I agree with the premise but I whole heartedly disagree with the idea that a petition can control what I do.

I dunno, how about parents decide based on the kid and not some arbitrary age/grade level requirement?

With regard to driving skill, I'd love for you to show me that data.

You're the one who arbitrarily chose 12 to try to make this point, so you tell me. Do I get to pick the 12 year old that matured early, or am I again stuck with looking at the whole when I've been advocating for looking at the individual?

The same reasons that most if not all 13 year olds, hitting their first stages of puberty, make some terrible decisions with mobile technology.

Yes.

So you refuse to look at the individual and instead want to just rely on the arbitrary number you picked. Congrats on completely whiffing on everything I said in this thread.

I said plenty. You just didn't bother to respond to any of it.

I didn't say leave it to the classmates. That's you just making your own inference.
And again, you're completely ignoring something I said to go off on another tangent.

Was I the only kid in high school who didn't want a cell phone on my parents plan??
It's like a permanent leash to your parents. I enjoyed being unable to be contacted by parents it made it way easier to get away with shite and lie to my parents about where I was and what I was doing (porking GF and boozing usually)

I remember my first cell phone when I turned 16:
That piece of shite had better reception than my iPhone.

Lots of helicopter parents in this thread. I feel bad for your kids.

Id bet quite a few don't have kids. Those are usually the most vocal

I think it's ridiculous. You want to have the kid that gets made fun of for being the only one without a phone?
So in your initial post in this thread, you indicated that every kid needs have a phone by a certain age to avoid negative social stigma. You later changed your argument to individualism. You started by inferring everyone act in the collective.

That's not what that sentence means.

If you say so. It's very clear you're hell bent on only looking at snippets of what I say.

Not what you say I did. I'm over trying to get you to see any light in this thread. It's a fruitless endeavour.

I'm not a big fan of using some arbitrary age or grade to decide when your kid is responsible enough for a phone. You should know your kids well enough to know when they are ready and be prepared to do some actual parenting when it come to acceptable usage guidelines.
