Made up nonsense. Pussification of America.

having married someone with a severe peanut allergy I'll refute that.

Overprotective parents not giving their kids peanuts in case they have a 1 in a million allergy turned it into a 1 in 100 allergy

i dunno why its more prevelant but this isnt always true.

example is my kids

kid #1- loved fried shrimp and had it all the time, suddenly at a shrimp boil he starts swelling and looks like will smith in hitch after 5 min. never showed an issue with it before. this was at 3 years old

kid #2- he was 11 months and i was eating peanut butter and he wanted some. he had never had it before. within seconds he broke out in hives. I just had to make him throw it up and pump him full of benedryl but i was home alone with him and this was before we knew of any allergies.

had both tested and come to find out they have severe allergies to both shell fish and nuts. oldest has never had a reaction to peanuts but has to other nuts and with food allergies the reaction gets worse and worse the more times that have it.

they are 9&10 now and its not that big of a deal as we have learned to deal with it.

3rd son has no allergies. i have no allergies. wife had allergies to oats and pork as a kid but no other allergies and she grew out of those.

dunno why its happeneing more often or if its just dignosed more now. I tend to think we just know what it is now compared to before.
