I didn’t realize that. My wife is literally the only woman I know, both in my family and hers, along with damn near all her friends and my friends’ wives, who breastfed. All the others used formula after the first week.

I’ve wondered this myself. I was a child of the 70s & 80s. Peanut allergies were all but unheard of then. Seems like it was in the 90s all of a sudden kids started becoming allergic to peanuts. By the time my oldest was in school in the early 2000s, schools had special “peanut allergy tables” in their lunchrooms.

I’d guess that fewer mothers breastfeed nowadays as opposed to in the 70’s and 80’s.

The hospitals sort of guilt trip mothers into breastfeeding now

I met a truck driver in the early 80s who was deathly allergic to peanuts. An open jar of peanut butter in a room would swell his eyes shut and affect his breathing. Ingesting peanuts would have killed him. He never ate in restaurants for fear of food cooked in peanut oil.

I saw the man break into a dead run to get away from someone eating a PayDay candy bar.

I don’t have an answer but I tell you what. It’s scary shite. My youngest son(3 at the time)touched a peanut to his mouth and complained that it was spicy. He went from that to anaphylactic shock within an hour.

Not a good experience

Because peanut butter was a staple of a child's diet back then. Now parents are scared to give them peanut butter because someone they know has an allergy to oea it butter. This never exposing kids to peanuts at a young age creates allergies later.
Reverse of that. My wife grew up eating shellfish her whole life but aquired at shellfish allergy in her late 30's. Had to carry around an epi pen now. Strange but it happens.

When my youngest was in elementary school the parents took turns buying snacks for the class. I got in some shite a few times sending Nutter Butters or peanut butter crackers.
