It says if you have $20,000 in sales or 200 transactions.

I guess I went over the 200 transactions.

Have any of you been asked to provide this info? Did you provide it?

Program a robot to handle all of your PayPal transactions.

The IRS requires PayPal to submit a 1099K form for all of its larger merchants. That's why you'll need to provide your tax ID or SSN. There's nothing unusual about it.

And PayPal definitely isn't for losers IMO. Its Web payments API has low transaction fees, great fraud controls, very good customer service, and very little downtime if you're an online merchant.

With the API integration, online customers never see a PayPal login page and typically never know that PayPal is handling the payment card transaction.

Nor do they realize paypal is a glorified sales channel. Think chase is the true acquirer.

No, paypal just wants your Tax ID number so the IRS won't be able to ID you for your taxes.

Damn right. Be an honest man and pay your taxes. Don't commit federal fraud.

Lol.

From the consumer standpoint you get far more protection using your bank-issued credit card for purchases.

I can definitely see why a business, especially a sketchy e-business, would want you to remit payment via PayPal.
