Passengers clap as family is removed from flight

I know flying and travel brings out the worst in us, but this seems a bit much.
I grew up w/ a bunch of allergies, one of which a life threatening food allergy, that I've fortunately outgrown, and it sounds like the family tried to manage this as well as possible. I tend to remember my family being mostly like this one -- you can't control the world and sometimes you'll have a reaction at a terrible time.
But to clap as the family left just seems awful, and then to read the father's tragic backstory makes it even worse.

I enjoy airports for some odd reason; however, you really see some people turn horrible in that setting.

Torn on this one.
Really have a hard time with the accommodations for allergies (bringing a peanut butter sandwich to school these days is a fricking hanging offense); however, I also think the whole bringing animals on a flight is stupid as shite.
Sucks for the kid and his family and the passengers are a silver tube full of dicks. Karma would have had that flight auger into the ground 50 miles from the airport.

I put the blame squarely on the parents. Their failure to take into account the child's limitations caused all of this.

The allergic reaction delayed take off, and soon the family was told they'd have to deboard.
"We understood. They helped us off the plane, but as we gathered our stuff the people toward the back of the plane clapped," said Fabian.

Hahahaha amen.

from the comments

Perhaps people were applauding because the child was going to receive medical assistance.

How do you know why they clapped? Maybe it's like when an athlete is injured during the game and everyone claps as they're taken off the field. It could have been a "good luck" or sympathetic clapping.

The people who applauded are terrible human beings but if you are that allergic to dogs wouldn't you have had a plan for this before hand?
We fly regularly with our dog albeit not internationally.

I await further details.
People do not usually clap en masse in situations like this unless someone was being a real dick.
So we'll see if another side of the story comes out.
Of course, with what was going on with that family I wouldn't blame them for being a bit dickish and stressed out.

Depends on if it was a golf clap or a bravo clap.

This kid learned a valuable lesson at a young age. Most people, including the vast majority of Americans, are self-centered selfish assholes. It will help him later in life.

The mom probably wiped too much vagina on him

Aren't epi-pens on the TSA Naughty List?

This could've saved that family alot of heartache.

I'm a frequent flyer and there is something about being in a plane that turns normal people into assholes, especially when it comes to families with children. It's hard to describe but its some kind of entitlement: "I paid $400 for this flight, dammit, and I don't want to be bothered by other humans'

Nah you're allowed to fly with them but some agents will hassle you

Epi Pens are allowed on flights. Just have to notify security before you go through the screening process. I've got a kid with a peanut allergy, and we've flown before without issue. Just have to be mindful of your own situation and take whatever steps you can (always take the first flight out that day to ensure the plane is clean, have your party sit on either side of the kid, be mindful of your surroundings, etc.). It's really not that difficult to get it done without affecting any other passenger on the plane.
Clapping as they left was pretty shitty, although not surprising. People can be dicks sometimes

I already know any clapping and derision directed their way was justified because the aggrieved party's name is "Fabian"
