I'm glad you never gave in not getting chemo. Fight it. Stay strong.

I can only offer this observation about America and the OT:

Think about how dumb the average Anerican (or OT'r) is. Half of the population is even dumber than that average guy.

Prayers to you. My mother was just diagnosed with it.

Try to make the best out of your time with her. I hope she has a good prognosis. I watched my mother decline over 8 years due to cancer till she passed away. Every day, I wish I still had more time to spend with her.

What was the original prognosis and life expectancy given to you, if you don't mind me asking?

No treatment - 6 months, chemo - 2 years. Whipple surgery just becoming an option - 5+ years.

Every doctor who has seen me cannot believe I am stage 3. Still have my hair and minimal weight loss. Never thought I would have doctors telling me to NOT lose weight!
My Radiation Oncologist swears I am going to beat it. He said he can walk out an exam room and he knows if that person is going to beat it based on their attitude. He said he has never seen anyone with a winning attitude like mine. Hope he is right!

I am sorry yet encouraged by your news. I had missed your original post months ago.

I have had family with cancer as many others have. Having a supportive family and a strong spirit will blow doctor's prognosis' out of the water many times.

I am now blessed to have a career in cancer diagnostics in which I know I am helping patients and families trying to find the most effective treatment possible. I am lucky, but like many jobs, you can get caught up in the job itself and need to be reminded every now and then what exactly is behind that specimen. I thank you for giving this update as once again you have put a face on what I am fighting for.

I wish the best for you and your family and friends and I promise you to keep fighting this disease until we beat this and I need to look for a new career. Please keep us updated on your adventures and your progress.

Cancer Treatments of Acadiana - at the Crowley hospital. Also a lot of supporting doctors in Lafayette.

Have a great team and love all my doctors. I went to MD Anderson for a second opinion and determined I could get the same treatment at home. Learned a lot about how different hospitals view treatments.

Take care, friend.

My dad has been battling it for about 2 years...

It's a tough deal.

I am glad to hear that you are getting some positive news! I was wondering how you were doing just a couple of days ago, but couldn't remember your scree name. thanks for the update!

ETA: also, the downvotes that you are seeing are people downvoting the fact that you have this condition...not that they are disapproving of you or the way that you have chosen treatment.

I have booked all the arrangements for my first bucket list trip. My husband and I fly out on 2/13 to Alaska to see the Northern Lights at Chena Hot Springs Resort (thanks to RTS for reminding me about Chena). Hopefully we get to see the lights.

Thanks for filling me in on this Spankum. I rarely post so I am not sure exactly what some things mean in response to a post. I hope I didn't offend anyone.
