re: Funny Cottonmouth myths debunked - lovelsu
My Dad told me a story how years ago he was fishing in his boat and had a stringer of fish hanging in the water. A cottonmouth came after the fish so he pulled the stringer in the boat. The cottonmouth then swam to the back of the boat and started climbing/slithering up the motor! He had to grab a p...

re: Pancreatic cancer update - lovelsu
I promise I will do the chemo Doc but I might fight them if they try to get me to go the oral route. That really was the worst so far....

re: Pancreatic cancer update - lovelsu
Good memory, Flo! Actually I think you missed an update I had posted after the Alaska trip (which was all I hoped for plus more). It was a great trip, got to see the Northern Lights and really enjoyed the hot springs. That is one off the bucket list. Next year I have Maine on the list!...

re: Pancreatic cancer update - lovelsu
Thanks Tigah. I normally take a multi vitamin daily. However, during radiation I found it made me sick so I quit taking them until I completed the radiation. I had hoped that when I resumed taking them it would help but so far no luck. After surgery, when I see my regular oncologist I will ask her. ...

re: Pancreatic cancer update - lovelsu
Lol, my birth certificate says female so I guess that is what I have to go with. No complaints from the hubby so I guess I have all the right parts in the right places! I will mention to my surgeon to remove anything that does not belong (besides the tumor)!...

re: Pancreatic cancer update - lovelsu
I am having the surgery in Lafayette at LGMC. When this began we went to Houston for a second opinion. After lots of research found I was comfortable having everything done close to home. My surgeon is one of the best from what every nurse has told me!...

Pancreatic cancer update - lovelsu
Hi all, I promised I would keep my friends on TD updated on any developments so here is the latest. I made it through the 28 days of radiation but I will admit it was rough. I don't think it was the radiation so much as the oral chemo that knocked me down. I had fewer side effects with the regular...

re: Pancreatic Cancer - Update - lovelsu
Hi Everyone, Sorry I have not been giving any updates but I didn't want to bore everyone with the mundane daily cancer routine. Our trip to Alaska/Chena Hot Springs was fantastic! Funny thing is I was going mainly for the Northern Lights (which were awesome) but the hot springs were very high on o...

re: Anyone Have Experience with Ovarian Cancer - UPDATE - 3/13 - lovelsu
No experience with ovarian but I am sitting in a chair right now getting chemo for pancreatic cancer. The best advice I can give you from my experience is the mantra my husband and I say in this battle - One step at a time, one day at a time, TOGETHER! It has helped us keep our sanity when waiting f...

re: Arrival time at MSY - lovelsu
Thanks for the offer Cuse but we are staying at Chena Hot Springs Resort and that where all of our time is going to be spent. My main goal is to see the Aurora and this is really good viewing spot. If I can keep the cancer at bay I want to go back next year in the Spring. Thanks for all the infor...

I have not flown out of MSY in years. I know last time I flew out of there there was a seperate security line for First. Do they still have that? I am always concerned about security causing delays....

Arrival time at MSY - lovelsu
Next Monday we are flying out of MSY on United @8:12 AM. We will take a shuttle from the Hilton Garden Inn in Kenner to the airport. We have bags to check and are flying first (not a brag need to know if there is a separate security line for First/Priority Members). What time should we leave the ho...
My grandmother had the Whipple before I was born and I'm in my early forties. She passed away 5 years ago well up in years and it's wasn't due to cancer, just her time
That is very heartning to hear, JCrew. 40 years ago most Whipple surgeries were not successful and think how far b...

re: Pancreatic Cancer - Update - lovelsu
Would you elaborate on the differences in how hospitals view the treatment? I'm curious about what that means.
Some health groups are more into research and clinical trials which is great for some types of cancer. Those type groups never would talk about the Whipple surgery as a op...
ETA: also, the downvotes that you are seeing are people downvoting the fact that you have this condition...not that they are disapproving of you or the way that you have chosen treatment.
Thanks for filling me in on this Spankum.
What was the original prognosis and life expectancy given to you, if you don't mind me asking?
No treatment - 6 months, chemo - 2 years. Whipple surgery just becoming an option - 5+ years. Every doctor who has seen me cannot believe I am stage 3. Still have my hair and minimal w...
