A "complex" is a round of exercises. In X2, there are 2 complexes, 4 rounds each. No breaks during each round, but one break in between each complex.

In each complex, the exercises are a combination of resistance, explosive, and isometric. It is a great routine. Makes you very athletic.

ETA: It's also called Post-Activation Potentiation

did incinerator this morning, great workout. Probably gonna try to hit the treadmill in the morning then take it easy the rest of the weekend.

Do yall have issues doing skyfers? I don't know if I'm doing the motion wrong or what, but I feel like in the DVDs they're getting a big range of motion and going up really high, and I feel like I'm not doing shite. I don't know if it's my form or what but I never seem to do them the way I think I'm supposed to be.

is Skyfers the one with your leg straight up trying to kick up or the one where your in some a crab walk stance doing some sort of weird dip?

If its the first one, yeah...I suck horribly at those.

If it's the crab walk looking one, I think using the push-up stands to help give yourself some extra range of motion is pretty helpful, although I'm usually too beat for that at the end. I think the key to really getting those good is to make sure your pelvis is coming up high enough (above your knees) and not staying collapsed down and also making sure you get a good bend in your arms. My shoulders/triceps are usually feeling pretty good by the time those things are done.

that one. I don't have the push up stands so I"m all on the floor. I just feel like I don't really dip down very far with my arms, and I also can't raise my midsection up to be flat.

Push up stands help, but I don't feel like I get anything out of those. I'd rather just do some regular dips on a chair or something.

Same with the tricep push-up punch thing. I just take out the punch and do tricep push-ups like from P90X. It was one of my favorite moves, and the punch kinda makes it lose some effectiveness.

That one is just weird. My dumbbells are too cumbersome to push through the opening of my brace arm and I'm never sure which one is supposed to be getting the workout, although I assume its the bracing arm. Hell at this point I don't even use a dumbbell for that exercise.

I think in Eccentric Upper you do the skyfer exercise too, but one of the dudes puts his feet in a chair to help make it more difficult. Might make things a little tougher, but yeah...it seems like just doing some dips using a chair or something would be a lot more efficient.

doldil/sabj/other thread regulars...waht are yall gonna do when you're finished with your current go around?

I started p90x around mid January, then after finishing started X3. I'll finish that early July, but then don't really know waht to do.

I might just combine all my favorite workouts from both programs and do a custom weekly routine for a bit to see how that goes.

I'm probably going to get my brother's copy of T25 and give that a shot. It really just depends on how I do on this round of X3 though. I still have a really long way to get to where I want to be physically...so it may be best for me to just stick with another round of X3. I still haven't got to the point of X3 where I find it to be easy. Every day kicks my arse. The routine changes up enough to keep me from getting too bored, and for the most part I really enjoy it.

Part of me wants to attempt regular p90x, but I just really don't want to spend an hour a day working out (yet). I'd have to actually be working out no later than 5:15 to do all that and still have time to get ready for work...frick that noise.

I'm thinking of running a different routine of X3, maybe the mass routine after I'm done with the basic one. Pull up assist band on the way!

ETA just to reiterate that this thread was an awesome idea it's like a group of workout buddies.

P90X averages around an hour. Some routines (looking at you Yoga) are a bit longer. I've also gotten spoiled to the X30 30min routine. I did doubles for Block 2/3, but found I struggled to fit the 2nd workout in.

I finished up X3 and started over, although I basically took the last few days off. I'm still struggling to find a time to set aside to workout everyday. Usually I do it at night, but with the end of the school year things have been changing a bit (wife teaches).

T25 is definitely an option, but a lot of cardio. I've thought about X3 Mass or P90X/X2 (time though!).

I've also read that it's good to change away from these types of routines on occasion. I've considered going to a traditional gym type workout at home for a couple months.

I really need to dedicate back to something. I tend to slack off on diet when I'm not working out regularly. Still holding at -20lbs, but I'd still like to drop another 5 lbs or so. Physically, I'm okay with my progress, just need to stay "firm" and drop some more from waist.

Right now I'm doing a combination of lots of stuff. A poster gave me a workout and I'm doing that and X2 on some days.

I've done T-25, X,X2, and X3 numerous times. Many times I did a combo of them. Breaks the monotony.

I'm going to do Body Beast soon just to see what the fuss is all about.

Came home this afternoon and knocked out MMX and then walked around the neighborhood to cool off That thing tears me apart, love it.

After I got home from my walk I decided to try out my
pull-up bar. I always like to make sure that I can still do my 1 pull-up unassisted. Did my 1 very easily...dropped down to a full hang and then busted out #2, although I did have to work for it. Damn did that feel good.

After about a month and a half of p90x/t25 hybrid I wasn't feeling it. I switched to body beast today. After the first workout I'm glad I switched. I'm enjoying the change, and after p90x3 and 6 weeks of p90x I think I'm ready for it. It fits my goals more and it's a break from so many push ups and pull ups and tony silliness and athletic training that I was growing weary of. Can't wait to get beastly.

Eccentric Upper yesterday. I finally decided to go fully with the assist band and no actual band usage. I'm glad I've made that switch. I continue to attempt to do as many as I can at the video's speed. As soon as I can't do anymore I simply return to jumping to the top and doing the negatives but typically make my one lowering negative take as long as they do for 2 reps. I'm definitely still feeling that one today.

Did Triometrics today. I know my legs are getting stronger because I can definitely do more of the round 3 jump moves in some situations, but others I still have to stick to stepping, even the "skip" is sometimes too much. That tends to happen during lunge/squat combos. I just cant fathom how much those people's legs must be burning after doing the plyo version of those things for 20 seconds. It's crazy

Had to work an event yesterday and didn't get to bed til 2, then had to be up for work again today. So for the 3rd time in 4 weeks I didn't get to start my week off with eccentric upper in the morning. At least I'm not hungover this time though, so I should be good to go this afternoon for it when I get home.

Got my pull up assist band yesterday in time to start week 6, so did eccentric upper with just pull ups... shite man.

Problem I'm having now is that my door frame is way too short for me and I have to tuck my legs which makes the assist band usage funny.

I'm well into the p90x3 mass program wrapping up another week with the MMX program yesterday. I have 2 challenges. I work 10 hour days in the summer with Fridays off. I hate working out early in the mornings so I will try to work out at 6:30 pm. The second challenge is diet. This MASS program has me eating a lot. I'm getting bigger but my core is suffering. I'm thinking of doing the LEAN p90x3 program next. My shoulders and arms are getting ripped but I want my abs shredded. May be time for Ab Ripper X...

brings up a good question, how rigidly do yall follow the diet? Honestly I haven't ever even looked at it so obviously I don't follow the diet plan that they suggest. However, outside of typically one day a wekeend (saturday) my diet is already very good, in my opnion at least. High protein, lower carbs, no sugar/junk, lots of lean meats/salad/green veggies.

Am I doing a disservice by not seeking out the diet plan? I have noticed in some workout diet plans like I assume the p90x one is similar to that they have a HIGH carb ratio. I realize that you need carbs when you're working out, but my bigger goal is to lose fat than get huge. I just really prefer not to take in many carbs. My biggest carb source is typically 1/4 of a sweet potato with lunch or half a serving of brown rice.
