The Mrs. Is looking at one of these.
Anybody here own one and has experiences they'd like to share?

Girl I was seeing couple years back had a 2013 (I think, maybe 12'). First time I had driven one since probably mid/late 90's model.... I was impressed

When I was looking in early 2014, word was the Pathfinder had some serious issues.
In addition to them changing it from an SUV to a mini van. Maybe someone with the scoop will chime in an confirm/deny.

In that segment, it is the worst choice, IMO.
Excellent engines, so-so transmission, weak everything else.
Ford Explorer, Toyota,...lots of better choices.

You don't know the model year of a major purchase in your household?

Since they changed it to the new version they pretty much suck.
For a while it was basically an SUV version of the Frontier. Same frame, motor, drive train, interior, etc.
I've had 3 of the 2005-2012 Frontiers without a single issue.

have a 2013 platinum
love it, drives smooth. best part is the gas mileage. it gets much better than pilot and explorer
just went to Austin and averaged 26 on highway
bro in law has an explorer limited and told me hes lucky to get 20
I drove them all extensively and didn't like the pilot and this has a lot more room than the explorer.
would buy again

also the negative shite I read about it were pathfinder purists that were pissed Nissan changed everything
that I agree on, this should not be called the pathfinder, its different in every way shape and form from the old ones
this is built on the murano frame and drives very well. not rugged or bumpy at all

Co-worker bought one for his wife last year. I've riden in it and like the styling. It pulls their boat well.
Biggest knock is that it is no longer a true off-road type vehicle. It's now a CUV, which is probably perfectly acceptable for most people.

My gf has the last gen one, and my advice would be to get a 4runner.
Nissan is very shady.
Like they have an issue with the old pathfinders were coolant will mix with the transmission fluid in the radiator. This has not been recalled, instead they will fix it if you find it before 80,000 miles, after 80k you pay $2500 co-pay..
Then there are all kinds of minor sensors and crap that just break or fail, and if you can DIY you can handle it.
I would say Nissan is fine to lease or short term own, but the resale is not that good and they are just not that well made.
Better than Mitsubishi though.

Still own an '03 4WD that I bought new. Not a single issue other than regular maintenance and small wear and tear/parts replacement. Thing is a fckng tank. I take it off road for duck/deer hunting in season. Drives great in the snow as well. 225/16 GY Wranglers with Kevlar for shoes.
Like others have said..its been turned into a minivan.

I've had a 98 Frontier and currently have a 09 with the V6. No issues on either.

both you guys.. I would suggest right now, bypassing the stock transmission cooler and adding an aftermarket one. That stock cooler will cause a lot of damage eventually.
check your radiator cap often, if you ever see what looks like strawberry milk, you are F'd.
My thread on Pathfinder/Frontier fluidmix issue.

Thanks for the heads up Napoleon. I've never heard of those issues...but I never looked into Nissan forums either unless the computer threw a code.
ETA: I just bypassed the cooler. Thanks again.
