I have talked to him many times about all things fitness, I've gotten pointers from him and tried to return the favor, taking all that crap in the end isn't good for you.
He of all people should know that.

The only thing I take is a protein shake a day. Creatine does not have any negative health effects.

It can and usually does when taken in large quantities. The long term studies for it are largely incomplete though.
Take what you want but try to limit it.

Mouton, do you take any Pre-Workout Supp? Most of those contain 5 Grams Creatine I believe.
I've debated on taking an additional Post Workout to add a little more creatine during a bulk, but don't wanna waste money on additional creatine if there is only so much the body will actually absorb.
Thoughts?

I take a pre-workout once in a blue moon. Usually when I find cheap single servings. I honestly don't know much about creatine.

If I take creatine, can I still have my cup of coffee before a workout?
Posted on 9/29/14 at 1:54 pm to SabiDojo
I usually take my creatine tabs right after a workout in the morning, then about an hour later drink my morning coffee at work. I'm alive still!

For the most part this is absolutely true. Not so much that its bad for you but it's worthless. If people would put the money they spent on supplements into their diet they'd be closer to achieving their fitness goals.
The only legitimate enhancers that can't be bought at the grocery store are illegal.

You don't think creatine produces legitimate results?

From my personal experience, I took C4, which has some creatine in it, along with a teaspoon of creatine monohydrate for several weeks, not thinking about the fact that C4 has creatine already in it. I don't think it mattered much. As someone on here said earlier, there are phases that many body builders swear by (though I don't know if it's actually worth doing) where they do a "load phase" of 10mg of creatine and then a maintain phase of 5mg of creatine. I guess I would have been in a load phase while taking C4 since it had been a while since I had taken creatine.
I hated C4, so I stopped taking it and now take ON's Platinum Pre, which is a really basic pre-workout.
My understanding is that there is a point where your muscles reach saturation, which is what you are trying to achieve with the load phase, and that usually takes a month or so. After that is when you usually begin to see the most results.
Again, take all this how you like. I'm no doctor and, in fact, I'm not some big muscled body builder either. This stuff is relatively interesting to me, so I've done research on my own. I suggest you do the same. There are tons of articles out there on this stuff that you can read to get a general idea.
Simplyshredded.com and bodybuilding.com are good sources if you want articles on bulking and how creatine can assist in that process. Some of the articles are written by PhDs who are nutritionists/body builders. Some are not. I would try to find out as much as possible from articles written by doctors, whether they are on one of those websites I listed or some other site and whether they decry creatine as terrible for you or hold it up as the nectar of the gods. Then weigh the pros and cons.

I do think they produce results because I'm a big believer in red meat and it would be hypocritical to say creatine has no benefit. I take creatine products but they aren't producing amazing results. It's just an enhancer. When I'm taking creatine I notice a slight fullness to the muscle. I'd be willing to bet no one else can tell the difference.
My point is, people will drop $250/month on supps and not blink an eye but still not have their diet on point. Take that $250 to your diet and I guarantee you'll see better results than the supplements.

Yes. Creatine isn't an amphetamine. It's an amino acid byproduct.

I agree with this. Most people do not put much emphasis on diet.
