2-3 Rogue Monster Squat Stands
1 Rogue Mono Squat Stand
2-3 Deadlift/Olympic platforms
10+ Rogue Ohio Power/Deadlift Bars & Olympic Bars
1 Elitefts Competition Bench Press
5+ Rogue Flat/Adjustable Benches
1 Rogue GHD
Olympic Plates, Bumpers Plates and Standard York Iron plates
1 Lat/Low Row Selectorized Cable system
Complete Dumbbell Rack from 5-150 lbs
Plyo Boxes, Oly Rings, Ropes, Bands, and other accessory conditioning
2-3 Rowers, 2-3 Aerodyne Bikes, 1-2 Treadmills
Chalk buckets everywhere
A great atmosphere to train and get shite done in
Reasonable price ($50/month?) to compete with other more traditional health clubs

If you throw in a handful of good looking female clients and the ability to play loud, heavy music over the gym speakers then you've got yourself a Goddamn deal.

silly crossfit shite like a GHD

You might be a good trainer but you are so off base on this its not even funny. GHD isn't even crossfit, its a strength exercise.

crossfit just uses it for dumbshit like wall ball throw situp.

It was just an opportunity to take a free shot at xfit, lol. It's just like every other piece of equipment...great if you use it correctly & what it was intended for. That being said, I don't have room for 1 trick ponies in my place. So I use a bunch of other methods for G&H. Nothing unique or that u don't already know

Knowledge- what qualifies u? Extra cash & a love to pick heavy shite up? I've been running my own private facility for 6 years. My own business for 14. In the industry for 18. People come to my place fir me, not my equipment. If you aren't an expert in the field, you better offer something completely unique.

Thanks, I appreciate your input. I know basic programming as Ive been experimenting with it on myself for years now, but have not branched out into training other people aside from helping friends and family with their fitness goals. I would never attempt this without getting PT certified to at least have some sort of credentials. Your point about the customer coming to your place for you and not the equipment or facility is very interesting and that makes me think about it in a completely different way. Id be selling myself and not the facility. The facility itself would be the icing on the cake for a customer.

but you got about 50-75k in equipment written right there

I disagree with this somewhat. I priced everything listed out to the dime over the last week minus plates (about $3-$5k I would assume) and dumbbells with racks (another $5k I would assume) and I was at about $22k. Strictly speaking of equipment in OP.

Also, do you have a website for your business. I'd be interested in checking that out.

Isn't a bodybuilder's gym with 5lb dumbbells kind of like an alcoholic's bar with test tube shots?

Have you ever done isolated rear delt lateral raises with 5 lb dumbbells for high reps? That shite will get you right. But Im assuming you meant in a powerlifter's gym as this would be more focused towards that. I get what youre saying though.

yeah, I just threw a random # out there. But for an open gym, you're gonna need more than $5k worth of plates. And DBs to 150? Shiiiiit, that's some $$$$. Been a while but I'd guess around $1.25+ per pound for some top line ones. Them heavy ones get pricey quick.

Post my website on the OT? Not a chance, lol. Sorry

Not your target audience? Good luck finding customers then. Who is it you think gets personal training? The guys who know what they're doing or the people who don't and need help? I'm not saying everyone is super broke or gonna be completely ignorant to the fitness world, but I've been in and out of gyms for years. Every single one I've been to, the people getting personal trainers are the elderly, the soccer moms, or the fat kids w/ their parents paying.

I'm also not saying you should be charging like $10 a session either, but Elmwood Fitness for example wanted I believe $360 for 6 sessions. What the frick are you gonna do for me in 6 sessions? I'm not paying that much money for a personal trainer, are you fricking kidding me? Also, lighten up, maybe relax a little.

Oh Jesus Christ. im sorry, I've been catering to that audience and made a 20 year career out of it....what's your qualifications? All I was saying is that there is ZERO reason for me to make my rates cheaper. Anybody who offers them cheaper is packing more people in or is green as grass.

and yet, hundreds of people have. But you won't, so it's overpriced. Gotcha. yeah, I need to relax. Lol.

Prepare to get handed some expensive insurance premiums.

I dont think it will be cost effective. Might want to partner up with SNAP and just have a room set aside for "heavy lifting." Charge a little extra on the side for it.

Yep, that was one of the "other" expenses I was referring to

That's something I've seen a lot. This would definitely be something to look into before going balls out. Build your brand piggy backing off of somebody else. I did it

ETA; Buuuuut, he's not really looking to be a trainer as much as he is a business owner. Can't just charge a fee to use his subleased room. That wouldn't work
