The best thing to do for leather bands are to stop wearing them in the summer and only wear in the winter. Sweat breaks down leather fast than anything. Leather cleaner and leather conditioner should keep a leather strap good for years.

And if it ever starts to smell, put it in the freezer for 4 days to kill the bacteria that's causing the smell. Also works for shoes.

Watchrecon.com

Chrono24.com

They both search all reputable watch sites.

Then do all the shite Broke told you to do.

If your still worried ask Broke to sniff them out. He may still be a moderator on watchuseek or timezone

Also, pay through PayPal or a credit card or both to avoid scam and fraud or fakes. At least through those two you have possible recourse.

Don't get "cute" with any Timezone people. There are some watch snobs over there that make Broke and Gaston look like Timex experts.

Never use the term "fake" on either of those sites. I got into a e-slap fight with a guy on Timezone because I jokingly mentioned a fake (brand name?) when just trying to buy my dad a nice watch. I was looking in the Seiko 5 tier of watches. Guy got him jimmies rustled. Deleted his helpful comments to replace with not helping "the sort" that would consider a fake.

I told him to frick himself. POLITELY. As I was joking. I got a "stop it" PM from a moderator. Who said he told the other guy to stop being a prick too.

Good luck.

Make sure you buy from someone with a long post history. Treat it like an eBay purchase. Check out the guys posts as well. If he posts things that make you think you know more than he does? Don't buy. If all his posts are asking values? Don't buy. Those sites do not give appraisals to watches. The appraisal is finding the price point of the watch in other sales.

There is no such thing as a $3000 Rolex Submariner. Unless it's beat to shite.

No such thing as a $1000 Omega Super..... Or Seamaster. Unless pulled off the bottom of the sea or a flood.

No longer a moderator there. I run my own watch forum now.

It seems you need to form "credibility" on these forums before trying to sell anything.

What if im not interested in joining a forum and pretending to be interested in building a reputation just to sell a watch.

What's the next best avenue? Ebay?

I purchased a used seamaster years ago on watchuseek. Paid $900. Original owner paid $4k. Best purchase I've ever made -- minus the $400 I had to shell out recently to get it cleaned.

It's easy to sell if you say those exact words.

"I'm new here, I don't really plan on being around much but I have a watch to sell." People will appreciate honesty as long as you give them some protection as a buyer. Allow them to do Paypal and pay with a credit card. Allow them to talk to you on the phone. Allow them to google earth your address etc.

Love the watch, just have others in my collection I like more. Rarely wear it anymore and hate to see it just sit

Broke, you want to add to that collection?

I got an awesome Seamaster off EBAY for 900 bucks, lots of deals out there from reputable dealers, do your homework and read ratings.

Nice watch, but I'm in love with Omegas. A speedmaster will be the last watch I ever purchase.

It's hard to find comp prices since it was a limited run of only 1k. Nothing on eBay, but I haven't searched any of the watch forums you've mentioned. Which forums would be the best to search?

I was thinking $3,250 based on what I paid.

Another question;

How do you discern a "gray market" watch?

If the seller says there is a warranty and the serial numbers are intact is there any way to tell?

If the seller states and can prove it was purchased from an AD does it really matter where in the world the AD is located?

I am mainly talking about Omega.

TIA!
