How do you discern a "gray market" watch?

Grey market is a dealer based watch that isn't sold by the dealer. Sometimes the dealer will sell a bunch to an online source (they aren't supposed to do that and can have their dealer line pulled). The online seller will sell to us. The warranty could possibly be denied by the watch company. Or the dealer could mark the warranty accordingly and the warranty is actually good to go. You'll have to ask the seller if it's gray market or AD

Some gray market watches come with serial numbers scrubbed from the watch. Those will NEVER be able to be serviced by the watch company. They just refuse it.

If a seller can prove it was purchased from an AD it doesn't matter at all where the AD is located.

limited run of only 1k

That's actually a lot for a limited run. So I imagine that your watch is worth between 60-75% of it's retail value right now. So I think your sort of right in the wheelhouse.

Thanks for the info Broke.

From what I am seeing, a new gray market watch (jomashop for example) is priced about the same as a 2 year old mint used watch from an AD.

How big of a deal is the lack of factory warranty? Keep in mind with regards to Omega, their website states there are no AD's in Louisiana anyway. So unless I wanted to ship it for service I'll be dealing with a local repair shop anyway.

I bought an Omega Planet Ocean Chrono from Topper Jewelers over the phone a few years ago. Was about 20% off IIRC.

Thanks for the info, Broke.

I've checked out your forum before I think, but I cannot remember the name. If you can, post it, or if you want to email it to me, please do: gynosandberg@gmail.com

Gray market is not authorized by the dealer. I believe jomashop is gray market. They have their own warranty.

I ran the sales corner on Watchuseek for many many years.

Really? I used to look at Timezone and then check the sellers on Goodguys on the watchnet site. Is that still legit?

To OP, try Timezone sales corner.
