And? In like 24 states it is legal to possess marijuana with a MMC. And there are many places where minor possession of MJ is a misdemeanor ticket

What do you mean "and"? I was simply responding to the statement that an 18 year old drinking was illegal. Said nothing about the legality of marijuana.

Also if my HS senior has a medical marijuana card then I'm certainly not going to be surprised he is smoking.

This is the key, either way. I'm kinda on the fence except for the fact that you can do a lot more harm to yourself or others while drunk.
You're on the fence if you'd rather your kid drink your beer when you're out of town, or smoke weed at your house?

This isn't creepy at all.

tough call, I'd be a hypocrite to tell him not to party because I partied my arse off at that age, pot is probably less harmful, the weird thing is we were double nought spies about hiding it because we knew there were consequences to pay if caught, kids today don't even try to hide it, and it seems like they all smoke

Would rather them both smoke than drink.

Obvious reasons.

in TX your underage kid can have an alcoholic drink served to him/her at a restaurant as long as the parent doesn't leave him/her unattended

I apologize, guys, I thought we were fricking with Mick.

i expect both of mine to do both... dont really see a problem with the occasional drinking or taking a puff

I hope they dont drink as much as i did in high school, but i'm not going to be a hypocrite about it

I'd prefer them to drink though, at that age I think pot has a bigger affect on development since the brain is not completely developed then

frick no, they can't have mine. I would be less pissed if they drank my beer because it's cheaper.

Yea, I better catch her smoking outside and not inside the house.

You're a parent here, not a peer. No such thing as hypocritical. You're an authority figure trying to raise/mold your child. What you did has nothing to do with it (other than some insight on do's and dont's of life and being good at detecting bullshite).

Here's the catch. I disagree with 21 being the legal drinking age. At 18 you're responsible enough to vote and fight and die for your country, but you're not responsible enough to have a beer. The same group that considers you an adult considers you a child when they choose to. Queue Alice Cooper.
