I've recently started getting a pain in my right front deltoid. It really doesn't get aggravated until I do lateral raises and front raises. It doesn't bother me any other day of the week until I hit shoulders. Anyone experience this? I hate to lay off of shoulders for an extended amount of time, but I may have no choice. It hurts mainly on the adduction movement of the exercise

I messed mine up pretty bad two years ago to where I couldn't lift my arm past middle of my stomach. I just switched between ice and hot compress for a week and would stretch it as best I could and use a lacrosse ball to rub it out. Take a week or two off from shoulders, better to just take a short break than to rip it.

Probably should lay off the shoulder isolation exercises and stretch

Last thing you want to do is permanently frick up your shoulder

rest. rest for a couple of weeks.

after rest, do light weight and see how it reacts. if it reacts bad, rest for another couple weeks. try again, if issues still arise go to an ortho b/c you may have a slight and or bad tear. Best case scenario you have some inflammation in the muscle or some inflammation in the joint space that may be causing it.

i worked in ortho for 6 years. I'm no doc, but to say that I was hands on would be an understatement.

Rest. Don't fight through shoulder pain. If it doesn't get better go see Dr. Buddy Savoie in New Orleans.

Yeah it can be rough, I had an issue after going slightly over weight with dumbbell shoulder press, one arm rotated back on me and caused me several years of annoyance. Felt deep in my shoulder in the ball joint.

Rough place to have bugging you

It could actually be your rotator cuff. My best advice is to rest it for several weeks. Start back light and slow.

Rest. Actual deltoid pain is very rare it's likely your proximal biceps tendon or rotator cuff impingement. Google posterior capsule stretches and if it isn't better in a few weeks get a PT script for dry needling. We see this all the time in the clinic and you need time off, don't try to work through it. Would also limit overhead activity for a few weeks if I were you.

Saint hit the nail on the head. Sounds like impingement or biceps tendinitis. Either way you need to rest it or you could end up significantly hurting yourself. Give it three good weeks and start back nice a slow.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try some stretches and see how it helps. In the meantime should I limit all shoulder activity or just the exercises that I feel the pain on? I feel like a lot of other areas will suffer as soon as I eliminate all shoulder training.
