Recap of symptoms which prompted the MRI? Age? Any previous TIA/CVA/TBI?
Usually white matter changes are expected in the elderly and are diffuse. It's really nonspecific.

agree, I don't think the nurse is at fault, she probably doesn't know how to read the MRI results well enough to offer an opinion. I think it would have been nice for the doctor to explain things especially when it involves something with my brain.
This is why I have people schedule follow ups after the exam. That way I can explain anything found.

What happens if you find insurance?

That is a sense of humor. Thank you, my friend.

Shame on them for not properly explaining things to you.

I got an appt with the neurologist in a few weeks, just gonna pray and hope for the best. I don't think it's serious, otherwise I'm sure they would have had me come in sooner. Thanks for all the info guys.

I had similar results on my MRI for a migraine issue on the opposite side. MRI doc said to go see a neurologist. He said it was nothing. Seems like MRI people just covering themselves.

Yeah, I had my first migraine a couple months ago. Hope that's all it is.

I am assuming you have high blood pressure? If so, do you take your meds like you are supposed to? What does your blood pressure run?
As stated, white matter changes are nonspecific but usually mean small vessel disease from hypertension.

Ha of course I'm always around

It means nothing. I have gotten those results on an MRI before

Haha. Don't be a stranger
Posted on 6/21/14 at 11:22 pm to joeytiger
She really shouldn't have said more than the dr is referring you to a neurologist. But then you'd have had a lot more to worry yourself about

In a similar boat. My son's MRI came back a few weeks ago with a "congenital reduction deformation" and we are being sent to neurosurgery. They explained nothing about this or what we may be facing, just a referral. Very frustrating. I hope you get good news.
