Someone once told me is that the thing separating the denominations is the part of the Bible each chooses to ignore.

Or you could say each emphasis different things
Baptist - Get Saved
Methodist - Love your neighbor
Charismatic - God is powerful
Presbyterian (not the mainline) - God is in control of everything
Catholic - pedophiles
Mormons - see South Park
Church of Christ - musical instruments are bad
Seventh Day Adventist - Y'all got the wrong day for the sabbath
Unitarian - Everybody is cool, all roads lead to heaven or where you want to go. Not judging anybody

scares me that other people dont look at it the same way. poor bastards that got born into muslim and jewish and buddhist families are just fricked because they werent lucky enough to be born into a christian family?

Another reason I go to the church I do - the doctrine that people who did not have the opportunity to learn the gospel while living on Earth will have the opportunity to do so in the next life. (I couldn't imagine a god who would just abandon so many of his children because of the circumstances of the birth - the entire system he created.)

There are plenty of people who are born into a christian family that dont have a relationship with Jesus and are on a path to destruction. It's not about what family you're born into, what you were raised, etc. The Holy Spirit can capture anyone's heart.

We created this system when we sinned.

But isn't god the one who starts life in the womb, so he is intentionally letting people be born of other faiths.

I might be late to the party, but you should look into Christian universalism. It might assuage some of your concerns.

I totally get that. But think it through.

Suppose you'd never tasted steak. Somebody tells you it tastes like pee. So you never try it because someone said something distasteful about it. But the steak still tastes like steak.

Read some. Talk to thoughtful people. (I'm not putting down the poster here; he's sincere, but you may benefit from a more nuanced discussion.). You've got a spiritual side no matter what you reject or believe. Delve into it.

There's a lot to Jesus. Don't take the word of someone else, or the culture, about who he is. Figure it out on your own.

ETA: Dearth Vader said this quicker than me, and better.

Raised nominally Baptist but quit at age 11 or 12. Pretty much totally out of control between then and age 22 when I placed faith in Christ while in college. Tried to revisit Baptist, Charismatics, non-denominational groups, Methodist, Presbyterian and finally joined the Episcopal denomination. Struggled with several changes in their core theology and left.

Was considering Roman Catholic or Greek Orthodox but finally and happily ended up in a conservative and orthodox branch of the Anglican/Episcopal church. For us it offers a balance of ancient traditional worship in the liturgy and solid biblical preaching and teaching coupled with real opportunities to love and serve our local community and each other.

Most important to me is that our worship, our liturgy is God focused and not preacher focused and requires my physical, mental and spiritual effort if I want to fully participate. Also, what we believe is clearly stated and laid out, is very old and not subject to trendy changes or fidgeting with the liturgy. I need this sort of order and stability to keep me moving in the right direction along the Way.

Everyone at every church is a sinner. Thank goodness for churches that teach correct doctrine and principles so that people can recognize their sins and repent (confess and forsake them). Its a lifelong process.

That's why it only makes sense that God makes provisions for those people that don't hear "christs" message in some way or that he accepts everyone regardless of religious affiliation. Which is where things get confusing

You can't just change scripture based on feeling uncomfortable that most of humanity is going to hell or there already...
