Happy MLK day everyone, hope y'all are enjoying the outdoors on this beautiful day. Much easier to do this thread on my day off so if you've got any questions I'll be off and on the rest of the afternoon (gotta get some golf in). Finding some decent fares to cancun on the delta nonstop from new orleans and lots of availability to denver for ski season. All prices are for a roundtrip ticket and found using google flights or southwest's calendar feature.
New Orleans to:
Cancun: $266 on Delta or united. Depart on saturdays in February (13, 20, 27), Saturday March 5, or sunday march 13. Cheapest I've seen these nonstops from here
Denver: $165 on United or Southwest. Middle of february until late march.
Dallas: $89 on American or Southwest, $98 on United. Mostly tuesday or wednesday departures in february or march
Chicago: $93 on United or Southwest. Not too many open dates (random tuesdays, wednesdays or mondays) but they're there.
Atlanta: $161 on American, $167 on Delta. Looks like delta finally lowered their prices to match american
Monterrey, Mexico: $248 on Delta. Most of february
NYC: $217 on American, United, Delta. About average price
Miami: $147 on American. Late february, early march
Baton Rouge to:
Charlotte: $158 on American, $188 on Delta. Cheap dates in february.

Ever hear of Spirit Airlines? My family of three flew round trip from New Orleans to Fort Lauderdale for under $350. That's the only airline I fly now.

I have, I usually avoid posting them in here because of the backlash from the OT of how cheap they are and how crappy the service is . Spirit actually flies to vegas from nola now and it's $87 for a roundtrip ticket. Of course you have all the fees but still that is very cheap

Thanks for posting this. Wanna go somewhere for my birthday which is one of those dates.

If you don't want to spend a week down there (saturday-saturday), for $280 there's one-stop flights on united or delta during that time period that leave on friday and come back on monday, tuesday, wednesday, etc.

I got round trip to Denver this weekend for $64 total out of IAH flying Frontier. I hope the plane has wings.

I'm trying to go to Italy in June, let me know if you see any deals. Would be just a six day trip..

Flew Spirit from Dallas to Vegas and never will fly them again. Planes were older and the flight was uncomfortable. Could have just been that one plane though

Where are you seeing nonstops from MSY to CUN? I'm planning on going to Cancun in July. From what I found, Delta offers direct flights from MSY to CUN from April-September. But I haven't been able to find if they will offer nonstops this year.

I'm hoping perhaps to take my dtr to nyc in July but as of now out of Lafayette tickets are $450 and I'd prefer not to drive to Nola (it's actually I prefer to not have to drive back from Nola).
Anyway would you expect that to be the "normal" pice out of Lafayette?? Is there an ideal time range to buy??
Love these threads.

And how much is enough savings to make you leave from an airport farther fro your home?? I know that'll vary but just curious of others thoughts.

I flew out of Gulfport once to Cancun and saved $200 per person compared to MSY. Really isn't a bad drive and it's a nice small airport.

$150+
That is after I've already calculated gas and parking prices in while comparing costs.
I usually have to look at Houston or New Orleans for any substantial savings and then I still usually fly LFT for the convenience.

The prices I'm seeing between lft and Msy to NYC are like $500 total difference for two tickets. Guess that should make my decision easy if we go.
(For past trips it's never been that big of a difference)
