Good morning everyone, hope y'all are enjoying the nice weather this week. Just got back from vacation and saw a bunch of good flights that I'll post below. Everything is from New Orleans and I found it all using google flights or southwest's website. All prices are for a roundtrip ticket.

MSY-MIA: $135 on American. End of August and September.

MSY-BNA: $99 on Southwest. By far the cheapest I've ever seen on this route. End of august until the middle of december. $164 on Delta

MSY-MCO: $198 on Southwest. End of august through the middle of december. Also a very good deal from anything else I've seen recently

MSY-Chicago: $127 on United or southwest. End of August to the middle of december.

MSY-DEN: $198 on Southwest. End of August to middle of december.

MSY-Washington DC: $177 on US Airways or Southwest. End of August to middle of december.

There's also flights to Baltimore, Kansas City, and Newark on Southwest for $198 roundtrip. Enjoy

ETA: Baton Rouge- Dallas $137 on American, end of August through the middle of December

Southwest is doing their big summer sale on fall fares. From MSY I've seen $98 to DAL, HOU. $126 to MDW, ATL. $140ish to TPA, AUS, FLL. That's the cheapest I've ever seen the Austin route.

Yeah, I saw that this is Southwest's really good fall sale (aka better than their usual sales). I might go to dallas from baton rouge for the extra $40, not a bad deal at all.

I know airfare has gone up alot lately, but it wasn't uncommon just a few years ago to see this regularly at $135 and specials down to $99

The "Southwest effect" has gone away . Now they have a monopoly on certain routes and don't care how much they charge. Also, it could be more people would rather fly to orlando than drive?

I don't claim to the best smartest man, but I just searched for

on

google flights or southwest's website

and I came up empty. The best I got was $311 roundtrip.

What am I doing wrong?

Ok, every week I have to walk someone through this so here we go. Go to southwest's main website. Click on the flexible dates with the calendar logo next to it (this is the link below). Type in MSY and BNA, pick depart September and return October for example. The cheap dates where it is $49 each way. Leave Tues Sept 8, return Sat Sept 12 $49 each way.
Southwest Calendar link

ETA: John Wayne, use the link above and type in depart MSY and MCO. Sample dates for $99 each way include depart Sunday Sept 13 and return Thurs Sept 17

It's likely the days of the week you are traveling. Their $99 one way prices are usually senday or monday through thursday or friday.

Check the flexible dates calendar on southwest.com

Gotcha. Thanks, guys.

Yeah, it's definitely the dates. I should've known traveling the week of Thanksgiving would yield higher fares.
