You would have to have an incredible budget for the effects. Then the casting would be so difficult to do well without making it feel teeny bopper like Hunger Games. And that's before we get into the fact that the Golds are basically giants compared to the other colors.
Supposedly the first book is in pre-production, but I don't have my hopes up.

A post in the thread about the woman that fell off the cruise ship got me to read Carl Hiaasen's Skinny Dip. Fun light read. Finished the book in 2 days.
