I never got bullied and I have no idea why. I wasn't nerdy and I was pretty good at all the usual sports so I am sure that helped, but I never "instilled fear" in anyone as Darth suggests kids do.

My advice was more to those who have to deal with bullies. Bullies only prey on the weak and those who can't or won't fight back. The only way to make them stop is to show them you're not one of those type.

Clearly the researchers were working under the threat of parking lot assbeatings.

Pretty sure LucasP is a sociopath. I love him for that.

He's probably got high self-esteem and is not depressed.

I got bullied all the time going through school. I mean all the time.

I never did anything about it. Sometimes people stood up for me, but I didn't really need that because I could just take it. They eventually gave up because they realized I was just nice.

I didn't hate any of them or fault them for it. I just knew that's how people were. I am pro bully. Because I am pro-accepting of all people and how they are and who they are.

I got picked on when I was younger. I came home crying one day when I was in the second or third grade because some kid was being mean to me and my dad told me "If I don't get a phone call tomorrow saying you busted his nose, I'll give you something to cry about". So naturally the next day, the kid picked on me and I busted his lip. We got called to the office, both got no recess for a week for fighting but me and the kid ended up being good friends. Still are to this day

I can't stand bullies. I consider them weak and cowardly.

Not sure what part you didn't believe, but it was in the local paper. If I can find it, I'll post it. Anyway after that episode there were no more bullies in town. Most of them changed their ways because of the lesson that I taught that day but a few actually got scared enough to move to different towns altogether.

I was pissing in the urinal one day during elementary school and in walks one of the kids who thinks he is a bad-arse.

As I'm pissing, he's pushing me over and over in the back like he wants to start shite. I calmly finished pissing without saying a word, zip up, turn around, and threw him against the bathroom wall. He's pinned and he realizes I'm a shitload more stronger than him.

I could see the fear in his eyes. Hell, I can still see them today 30+ years later.

After several seconds I let go and stroll out of the bathroom.

He avoided me after that.

But you would be wrong, as per this study.

There is no group with a higher self-esteem than violent criminals. We are being inundated with studies proving this.

Low self-esteem: Asians and Jews. How are they doing in society?

The Self-Esteem movement was well-intended but very misguided.

In kindergarten a kid took my blocks, he wouldn't give them back. So I got one of those old thick wooden pencils that didn't have an eraser from off the top of the teacher's desk, I sharpened it and walked back over to the kid and I shoved the pencil deep into his hand and took back my blocks.

But then I picked on a heavy set kid in 2nd grade for obviously shitting his pants right before first recess. He was going to try and play it out. But he was Flat out denying he shite himself, so I gave him hell. I really don't have any honor I guess.

You missed my point. I'm saying they're weak and cowardly due to the fact they target those who are weaker and unable to or unwilling to fight back. I don't give a shite about their self-esteem or happiness. To me it's pathetic that they have to get those from preying on the weak.

Yep. Legitimately successful and happy people probably have high self-esteem. So do oblivious and worthless shitbirds that just take up oxygen. Your average Tigerdroppings poster has just a little too much self-esteem.

It's one of those graphs that have peaks at opposite extremes. Some smart guy (with or without self-esteem) remind me what that's called.

I come from old money, so I would befriend the bad-asses with cool shite that I had access to and they didn't . When someone would try to start shite, I would calmly say, " ya know, I can't kick your arse...but he sure can" (pointing in a certain direction)

Are you sure that you didn't just remember a scene from "Back to School" as part of your life?

We had a family of bullies at my High School. Just like the O'Doyle family in Billy Madison. Red hair and all.

One day I was sitting in the barbershop and the father of the bully family sat in the chair next to me. He went on a rant about a certain local high school being a bunch of pussies and talking shite about fifteen and sixteen year old kids. The barbers were visibly uncomfortable with him frothing at the mouth over the subject.

I quickly realized why every one of his sons was an a-hole.
