Let's say your aunt Jenny just passed away, and you found this in the barn. How much do you ask for it?

1964 1/2 Mustang K Code
Convertible
Custom paint (original)
One owner, 40K original miles
First owners' names stenciled on dash
Original engine, trans, and accessories- carb, fuel pump, etc..... belts and hoses even still in good condition. Literally in a covered garage for 40 years.
Original invoice and registered owner's manual

Should have included this

Rust bucket. Not the most desirable model.

If you want to make it a trailer queen, it's not a bad choice. $10k.

If you want it to be a Sunday driver, you'll have to do some minor modifications to make it reliable in modern traffic. $5k.

If you want to enjoy it, you should do a full resto-mod and make it awesome. $20k.

I've had a lot of classic cars but never a mustang. Can't see why people like them. But I've had cars I thought were beautiful and everyone else thought they were butt ugly. Buy what you like and be prepared to spend at least half on what you paid for it to keep it running.

All true. I'm a mustang guy, but get why some guys don't like them - I can't stand old GTOs for example. but some folks love them.

For a true Mustang enthusiast, this thing's more desirable than a cherry Shelby. It's amazing, extremely rare to begin with, and in this condition it's unheard of. Will be interesting to see what it gets at auction.

Probably 100,000. Gas Monkey had a 1965 red convertible that went for around 90,000. I believe some of the 64 1/2 had a 262 v8 instead of 289 - which would make them more $$$$ any mustang heads correct me if I am wrong on the engine.

This one actually has a 289, rare in a 1964 1/2. (260 was the standard I think). K code was the performance option package, including the 289.

100K might be a good guess - but, it could be significantly more given the condition. truly all original and running great, with literally the original belts, hoses, etc, all in good condition.

Owner was offered 200K but chose to put it up for auction instead. Gas Monkey is involved in this one as well, but sold their share for 100K before the other owner put it up for auction.

What do you mean original custom paint? What color? Factory air?

I am not up on old Mustang values, but my gut tells me 200 was all the money.

Original owners ordered like this from Ford. Not a standard color, but it's factory.

The pic IS the car, today. Every bit as nice as it was in 1964.

I don't think this one came with air.......

I'd have passed on the 200K as well- I'm think it's closer to 500K in the condition it's in, but we'll see in April I guess.

Wait...the pic is the car?

I misread, I thought that was for comparison.

You're right, it will do better.

Pretty damn desirable model, I mean, it's a 289 4speed car. Its not the fastback, but it is a convertible.

Couldn't tell if it was a 4barrel or not, being a 4speed car, I imagine it is, especially with the chrome valve covers, might even be a HYPO. Has factory air, I would love to have it.

No expert, but I think it would sell in the mid-twenties, to the right buyer, maybe even more.

I really doubt it will bring anything close to that, unless it was owned by somebody famous. It's a very nice car with some great options though.

I might have missed something about the car though that you guys caught.

No one famous, but, pretty rare car. Not your usual 64 1/2 convertible. K codes were top of the line, this one was put together custom for the original owner, who kept it in the garage for the last 4 decades - all original parts, numbers matching+......

You may be right, but it's really hard to predict. Will be interesting to see what it goes for for sure.
