Such ignorance and lack of reality. Times like this is when it's needed. I personally know two families living in an uncomfortable place because their options after the flood are slim.

Boy, some legislation is just what we need to keep your people from being uncomfortable.

Golly! Uncomfortable! We should pass a law!

It's needed but shouldn't be outsourced to Cali.

Who have they hired to inspect our streets

Stantec

The road survey, conducted by Stantec at a cost of about $555,000, represents the first comprehensive look at exactly how bad New Orleans' streets are. It will play a prominent role in the city's ongoing planning about how to fix the streets, including how to spend about $2 billion in FEMA money for road and drainage work in the coming decades.

There needs to be a certain baseline standard I think landlords need to be held to. And while I do believe in the free market and how it has a way of working things out. The real estate market is far from a free market so it doesn't exactly apply. And yes there are situations where families don't have the luxury to just pick up and move or able to shop city wide for numerous reasons. And yes there are no doubt slum lords. I believe If there is going to be some sort of standard and inspections it needs to be done by the local government with checks to eliminate as much incentives as possible and by no means bring in an outside company especially one from out of state.

Isn't that what a deposit is for?

Yes, but that doesn't negate the fact that some people do not have a problem living in squalor.
