In an article on Kenton's Restaurant, a restaurant that is an offshoot of the Manhattan based Maysville, the New York Times author referred to the restaurant as being "in a somewhat remote yet up-and-coming neighborhood west of the Garden District". We are talking about Uptown here, the corner of freaking Magazine and Nashville. That hasn't been "up and coming" in probably 100 years.

Twitter obviously had some fun with this. And they edited the article to say: "In a neighborhood west of the Garden District (I thought it was somewhat remote, but locals say not)"

Trying to get a picture of the area the @nytimes considers "remote" but there are too many buildings in the way

Practically a food desert. You’d have to walk half a block to reach whole foods.

I just trademarked Lakeview Sherpas for when @nytimes discovers Susan Spicer's upcoming restaurant. Should I buy llamas or camels?

One girl describes her trek home:

Most people had fun with it and weren't that butthurt. Good times.

No one probably, but it is amusing to think of the corner of Magazine and Nashville as "remote" and "up and coming".

Compared to a real city, it's a pretty small area

The guy is just lucky to not have been shot at while he was down there.

My house was 1 minute in a car from there. I had no idea I was out in the hinterlands.

You never wondered why you had satellite internet and broken down cars in your front yard?

I rode my alligator to work, just like everybody else.

New Orleans is tiny.

I have a lot of friends in Houston, and every time I'd visit from New Orleans it seemed like we drove 20 minutes to go to another's house, a bar, or whatever and no one complained.

I moved to MidCity while most of my friends were in Uptown, and if I texted back "I'm in midcity, come meet me" you would have thought I was on the moon 9 minutes away

It is remote part of town. So far from everything.
