I love watching planes take off like that. I have seen cargo planes at barksdale that use like 500 feet of runway and are near verticle take off. Badass

How so? Yes it's behind schedule and some vendor issues, because an all composite aircraft was underestimated in the engineering field and had some early bugs, mostly the -8 configuration.
This is the most technologically advanced commercial aircraft on the market right now.

That's how so. And it is the most advanced. But I've flown quite a bit (not much lately, but a good 250,000 miles since 2010) and I'd take reliable over technically advanced any day. And that's not a debate.

Well take 30 seconds and learn that the aircraft pulling vertically like that is not shopped. That is something Boeing's test pilot did on the very first -9 off the line to test the limits of the plane.

NVM just noticed your location is Washington, you are probably one of the legacy groupies. It's cool eventually those will be converted into composite as well. For the record, this Aircraft is light years ahead of any of the other commercial aircraft in the same stage of their programs respective start up.

Okay. Got it. It has high tolerances for maneuver. Next time I'm flying commercially during a world war in which commercial aircraft are being targeted, I'll be sure to insist upon only utilizing the 787.

Dude I'm a legal resident of Washington State who hasn't set foot there in six and a half years, but I live in the Washington DC area (that's what the "Washington" in my avatar references. As an aside, I'm a black shoe with no ties to or financial interest in the commercial aviation industry.

Okay I won't deflect. It wasn't shopped. You happy? It's a highly capable and technologically advanced aircraft that was rushed out of R&D and rushed off the line because Boeing was falling way behind Airbus (due in no small part to EU subsidies).
The aircraft's rollout was a source of pride for those of us stationed in Europe when the Boeing and Airbus issue was huge. It was a very disappointing rollout in the end.

Awesome... until you realize its probably on a 1/4 tank of fuel with no passengers or luggage that would prevent this maneuver. Meh.
