None. "Faith" makes them blind to such things.

He certainly hates religion.
He does not.
He does however hate people who think their religion entitles them special license to attack science. His discussion about Abu Hamid al-Ghazali and the death of science in the muslim world centuries ago makes his motivations on this subject pretty clear. He believes that if you allow fundamentalists to destroy education and learning eventually you end up with a terrible society like what we've seen in the muslim world for the last 8 plus centuries.

He is routinely (as in during every interview ever) asked about his belief and thoughts on religion, and his response is always that he is a scientist and just doesn't think about religion very much. When he brings it up, it's to discuss ideas born of religion involving science (like creationism and denial of the big bang), not religion itself.
He also has repeatedly told atheists not to claim him.

I never said he (or anyone) should have to have a convincing argument for what they believe or don't believe. I just said that saying you don't believe in God because some people think he cares about petty things doesn't make a lot of sense. (That's what someone else posted he beloeves, not me.) After reading about him a little, he said no one has convinced him to believe. That makes sense. Not the previous explanation.

Thanks. Looks like 3000 people in line out here. And I'm in the back.

Unless you're also in the back trying to discourage people and move up in line.....

He's a scientist, not a philosopher or a theologian. Why should we expect him to have some special insight?
His draw is that he's a great communicator of science to the masses. Not many guys at his level are very good at it.

???
I like the guy a lot. I know it's a modern production of Sagan, but how many guys could convince a room full of TV suits to put him on a network, in prime time, to talk about science?
What he's doing is very important and what our culture needs more of. We need young people excited about going to Mars or curing cancer. I mean, Miguel Cabrera makes 40K an at bat.

Must have misread your post. Sounded like you were trashing him because he wasn't going to bring some incredible insight.

The guy is revitalizing interest in science. I'll embrace him.
