90% of the "Trends" you're buying are complete BS.

By all means, keep buying the $50/bag stuff, it's lining our pockets but at least buy it from someone not printing a fancy bag and fancy name and filling it with 3rd party kibble.
then what is your recommendation for my situation? you can shite on other peoples comments, so put some of your own out there.

good brand, main ingredient fish, between $1-1.5/#

Do tell!

Blue buffalo has been selling dog food since 2002. Has been one of the fastest growing brands out there.

They didn't have a manufacturing site until 2014....

Nearly positive Taste of the Wild is 100% co manufactured.

The more you know right?

Outsourced manufacturing is common in all food products. You give them the recipe, put in your own Quality Control to make sure you aren't getting ripped off, profit.

I can read a balance sheet, I know how profitable it is. Dog food in general is like gasoline. Hence why General Mills just bought Blue.

But regarding Co-Manufacturing, you think those controls or more reliable when you add in all those outsourced variables?

Along with making food for a bunch of other brands? You don't think the risk increases significantly?

Taste of the Wild dog food is made by Diamond Pet Foods, Inc., owned by Schell and Kampeter, Inc. They are a U.S.-based pet food manufacturer with plants located in Meta, Missouri, Lathrop, California and Gaston, South Carolina. The company is a family-owned, privately-held enterprised, still managed by the Schell and Kampeter family. Taste of the Wild is a relatively new brand of dog food, debuting around 2007 to meet the market demand for premium “natural” dog foods and grain-free foods with better ingredients.

The headquarters for Diamond are in Meta, Missouri and the company was founded in 1970. At that time brothers-in-law Gary Schell and Richard Kampeter bought Milling Meta Co., a producer of livestock feed and dog food. Early distribution was limited to within 100 miles of Meta, Missouri and only about 5 percent of the company’s production was dog food. Diamond expanded its manufacturing to include plants in San Joaquin County California in 1999 and Gaston, South Carolina in 2002.

Confirm your thoughts?

Can't find any negative comments about it other than that Diamond is the parent company.

Blue buffalo spends more on marketing than any other dog food company. And has had an insane amount of issues.

You're right it is Diamond.

That is good stuff, I get the "wilds" mixed up, its a trendy name out there right now.

Victor, Diamond, Nestle, Mars etc all great companies.

I'm just weery of Blue as they were in a huge lawsuit with Nestle for a huge labeling scandal that was perpetuated by their lack of quality control, further complicated by their vast co-manufacturing.

Correct.

All of us are laughing at GM buying them for 8 billion cash.

That is going to be Iams P&G all over again. AKA disaster.

Good to know. My vet is very biased toward TOTW, but does not sell it. And I can't find any negative literature about it. It's also available at my local feed store instead of sending more money to Bezos and Amazon, which is a huge plus for me.

I'm not knowledgeable about your field at all, and I wouldn't use their products. Too much bad pub in recent years.

Didn't mean to shite on anyone. Just passionate about it and hope to educate people so they aren't wasting money and giving their dogs good, safe kibble.

One more question. Did you answer/post in the thread about dog farts tearing paint off the walls?

Any recommendations for ingredients or supplements that could help with that?

Anything with Soy is going to cause the most raw farts.

But the "cleaner" diets really do make some good turds as well so kind of a double edged sword.

What are you feeding him right now?
