He actually served in the Navy, and sweet lord the man never got justice for his murder.

frick off you uptight, self-righteous, piece of overly-sensitive liberal progressive shite. If you can't see the humor in the Navy naming an oiler for a gay rights activist then you're nothing more than a joyless shitstain.

Will the ship be extra colorful and a bit sassy?

I feel like some of the people up in arms about this are the same people who make fun of "SJWs" for being easily offended.

The pure ignorance and just homophobia of this board is really sad sometimes.

Define the cutoff line, Roach. What is ship-worthy?
--------------------------------------------------------------

I'm old school. I thought we were doing just fine with US cities, states, presidents, war heroes and battles. I'm okay with the occasional Navy friendly and very influential politician, like John Stennis, but frick Nancy Pelosi. I'm good with ships named after strong military supporters like Bob Hope. (How is there not a USS John Wayne, I wonder? I'm talking to YOU, Ray Mabus!) I'm also cool with new ships having old names - Wasp, Hornet, Enterprise. Bring back the Nautilas! I liked our submarines named after fish.

That about covers it for me. I guess there have always been ships buried on the Navy's roster that had non-typical names or were named after obscure people (Not to say Harvey Milk is not well known). I just never thought a class of ships would be named after Civil Rights Activists. But since there now is, Harvey Milk is certainly worthy, with or without his service as a Naval officer.

Disagree. He had an underage boyfriend when he was in his 30s. That should disqualify him from any honors.
