How much tonnage in them diapers after 39,910 years?

I ra'd to move this thread to money board

A bet a graphical summary will be posted in first response there

It's not that difficult. It's how long it takes light to travel for 1 year.
Light travels at 186,000 miles a second.
That's 5,878,499,810,000 miles in one year.

. Now my question will we every have a vehicle that can go that fast so we can go visit some of these places?
anything with mass can't travel at light speed
Posted on 9/6/15 at 1:15 pm to ksayetiger
Time slows down as one approaches the speed of light. Aging would slow down. The problem is that the mass of a moving object becomes infinite when traveling at the speed of light.

It's a collage whose material covers the greatest amount of space ever covered in a collage. Not the biggest picture ever taken.

if we could travel at the speed of light, then all we would have to do is live to be 40,000 years old to see some of there places
No, if you were traveling at lightspeed the elapsed time would (to you) be exactly zero.
Problem is that because you have mass you can't go that fast - the energy required would be infinite.
However, you can theoretically get close enough that the elapsed time could be drastically shortened. This has been experimentally demonstrated using radioactive nuclei - the faster you accelerate them the longer the half-life becomes, exactly in accordance with predicted values.

Yeah i know all that. I einstein baw.
Just made a dumb little joke to someone who didnt understand speed 0f light

I will never understand the whole light years thing. I just know that shite is alongggggg ways away.
If you could run all the way around the globe at its widest point and be back where you started in a second, it would still take you almost 500k years to run the distance from one end of the picture to the other.

This is easy to quantify. However, it seems that deep space travel would be impossible given the vastness of the universe.

I wonder what other minerals and radiations we dont know of are out that the could benefit this world.
The periodic chart for any world in this universe would be the same. There are no 'undiscovered' elements or any unique to those on Earth. The physics is the same everywhere else in this universe as here. Not saying a new compound wouldn't benefit us, but you don't have to go anywhere, as the building blocks are here for us to make it.

Boy there is some bad information in this thread
Posted on 9/6/15 at 10:52 pm to tigerpawl
Yeah, its not even really close to being the "biggest picture ever taken." There are more than a few images that are approximately 200 times larger than that one.

That is a seriously cool picture. Space is an awesome creation.

So many worlds to conquer or destroy.
