what about items where it really doesn't matter quite as much???

laundry detergent? ABSOLUTELY makes a difference in higher quality. Cheap detergent is too harsh leading to early fading, pilling and breakdown of fabrics. If you have nice clothes, stick to Tide Total Care, Woolite & Woolite Dark. I use Gain on my towels & sheets bc it smells so much better.

dryer sheets? Probably no difference.

vinegar? Cheap brand

Like better is better? Cause if there is a roll of non Charmin ultra soft in our house, I throw a fit.

Ketchup = Heinz
Mayo = Blue plate

paper towel = any
peanut butter = JIF/Skippy Natural

Any kind of cookie = real brand

Most store brands are big brands relabeled.

Yep. I drove trucks cross country and when I went to big name product warehouses I'd be amazed how they pump out a variety of brands. Even locally - Ozarka water comes from a bottling plant in Osyka, MS. From that one plant comes Ozarka, Shur Fine, Leblancs, Great Value, Winn Dixie, and other brands.

BUT OMG ILL PAY THE EXTRA $2 FOR BETTER WATER. It's the same thing.

Yeah it is the same if it's the same type of water. Some are spring some are artisan.... Some just taste different. I do always go for the cheapest type of water though.

I have to have name brand crackers, but I've always like the cheap orange juice better.

Trash bags have been a bad experience for me. Tried to get away with using the cheap $1 ones. Ha. Food all over floor. Bags ripping everywhere. Ugh.

Foil is truth. Get the heavy duty Reynolds and don't look at the price. It's Worth it.

I accidentally made the mistake of buying Great Value brand milk at Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago. It tasted like white water. Never again. When it comes to that, spring for the name brand.

I have a buddy that hauls milk. The Great Value milk comes from the same cow teets and goes through the same processing in the same plant as the name brands. Literally the only difference is the label.

But cheaper saran wrap is often better than the name brands.

Paper Plates. Not just any plates though. One has to spend some time and do careful examinations of all plates in the area. The Shurfine Brand plates (the quality ones) are just as good as Dixie or Chinet.
