New York, Virginia, Maryland, etc. were nice enough for the folks living there for centuries until the Brits colonized them and wiped out all the residents by disease or murder.

You are quite ignorant.

Well that’s not what I mean.

But if they came from ulster they are not really Irish. Most “Irish” that came to the south were from ulster, but there were some actual Irish

Hey, Baton Rouge, the Northshore, St Francisville and anywhere else in the Florida Parishes was part of the British Empire. Nuff said.
Only from 1763-1783.

Spain and France and limbo had it otherwise until the US got it in 1810

To be fair they all came over here. There are 32 million people in the US of Irish descent and only 7 million Irish back in Ireland.

Not much of a choice when the food you are allowed to eat (the potato) has a fungus, and all other food is exported

Plus 32 million people - why doesn’t the USA have St. Patrick’s Day off??

NOLA was a port of entry for the Irish during the famine

ETA: and there are plenty of Ulster Irish that aren’t British transplants

And it still took Mugabe how many decades to finally completely destroy the Zimbabwe economy and excellent farming of the British farmers?

The prime British failures have come from drawing absolutely ignorant lines for country borders that immediately led to total failed states

Burma, Southern Rhodesia, Sudan, and a swath of the middle east are great examples

They just said frick it and put lines of demarcation that managed to lead to an impressive amount of civil wars

I know it’s hard to grasp for some of y’all , but transitioning power in former minority states isn’t a pretty process.

Transitioning power is simply a euphemism for randomly drawing birders on a map with no concern or care for cultural clashes and then withdrawing leaving a massive power vacuum

More like they bought out their enemies. Most of their empire was wasteland.
