If in Baton Rouge, may want to try Dr. Warrif Azmeh. He was my infectious disease doc. He figured out that I had hairy cell leukemia when I had very similar to the same traits as the OP 's gf. Prayers sent.

Listen to me carefully.

Convince your girlfriend's family to send her to Tulane.

Seriously. I know somebody who got this mysterious strep infection in his blood. He was at a local hospital and after a week of induced coma, they were going to cut off his arm to try and stop it. Apparently he had hairline fractures and the infection started there. They went in to cut his arm off and saw that the infection spread to the area around his heart to they didn't do the operation. They brought in a priest to give him his last rites.

The guy's family didn't give up. They called Tulane and got them to agree to take him. The local hospital refused to release him so he had to pay $500 or whatever to get an ambulance to transport him to Tulane.

Once he got to Tulane he started doing much better and he is 100% recovered.

I had high fever, 105, pain in joints, fluid in lungs and trouble breathing. Did they do a complete blood count?
