Why couldn't the family of the family of the officer counter sue the POS? Is that a possibility?

Good thing this is all happening in Jefferson Parish and not Orleans
This suit will be tossed with the quickness

The deputies should assert the affirmative defense of insufficient force because still breathing.

Looks like he headbutted the shite out of those officers' fists. I hope their knuckles are ok.
When you kill a cop and then resist arrest, I don't think you are entitled to the kid gloves from the police.

He should be charged with impersonating a piniata.

Countersue for what? You think that POS has anything of value?
Poor people are in many ways above the law because they have nothing to lose in a society of laws that relies heavily on monetary compensation for the victims.
Feed this a-hole to the dogs. Copkillers deserve to be burned alive as far as I am concerned.

That family is going to be paid. I have no faith in our system. Michael Brown's family was awarded $1.5M. . . .
Michael Brown wasn't in Jefferson Parish

I think we can all agree that the biggest issue here was getting caught on video. That being said, someone had a good idea for the family of the officer to sue this POS civilly. Get a judgement against him in advance of the Parish paying him for the beating. That way when he gets paid, which he will, he never sees the money.

If y'all really want to get upset, read through the comment section of the article. I was shocked at how many people felt like he was treated unfairly.

If he gets any traction from this federal suit he will.

Newspaper comment sections make the political board look like a MENSA meeting.

What's he expecting to get? Money? If he's found guilty, is he gonna use his money to buy poptarts and ramen noodle from the prison store.

How big of a fricking scumbag must his lawyer be? Even if he's a public defender he should be sent into prison with this piece of shite for pulling this crap.

Piece of shite deserved it. Who cares if they beat the shite out of him.
How about you don't kill a cop, or anyone for that matter, in the first place. If you kill someone, you deserve no sympathy, nor should you have any right to NOT have your arse kicked.
How about cops doing their job using only the force required. How about letting the system they swore to uphold do its job. How about cops not breaking the law.
Horrible that a person lost their life, no more or less because of that person's profession, but the cops should not be allowed to beat the person they think is guilty.

And they probably know as much about the situation as some random guy in India.
