What ever happened to this proposal? I thought it was pretty much a done deal after they had those meetings awhile back? Did it get swept under the rug by the new mayor's team?

1. Need more studies.
2. Moving it is racist.

Studies conducted by Champion Medical would indicate best case scenario, to not be racist of course, would be to have all the animals slaughtered and butchered, cooked in gravy, and delivered to the address of one G. Chambers.

For disposal of course.

I've never been to the BR Zoo, but I imagine it's a lot like the Jackson Zoo. The Jackson Zoo is in the middle of the ghetto of West Jackson. You basically keep the animals in the cages to protect them from the public. I think some stray dogs got in there once and started killing animals. It needs to be moved but they are so broke.

If we can figure out how to move a 2 million pound, 300ft long structure to Sasol in the middle of the night, we can figure out how to move some animals.

The potential locations are BREC’s Airline Highway Park — more than 130 acres in the far southeastern portion of the parish near Blue Bayou Water Park — and the “Nicholson corridor zone” of undeveloped land along La. 30 and Bluebonnet Boulevard, near L’Auberge Casino and Hotel.

The Monroe Zoo is like that too. You can watch people doing crack on their front porch while looking at the tiger.

Lol wow here?

there is a new development called the preserve (another one of those high end 10ft away from each other houses) and springlake area. I am sure those people would be thrilled with the smell of animal shite.

I say put it in the Nicholson corridor and have LSU Vet School manage it. Give undergrad students real world training and become a beacon for zoo research.

There is plenty of room between Brightside and Gourrier off of River Road that LSU owns that would be perfect for a joint BREC/LSU Vet partnership on this.

Only problem is, it makes too much sense.

That's not really near Blue Bayou. I mean I guess you can say it is in the same geographic area.

Yes. I know. I live in the Preserve.

I believe the area they are referring to is further down Burbank. It's location is not explained well by that article. The land that's around the soccer complex is BREC owned. The areas you are talking about are owned by developers and they are not going to sell the land to BREC.

That wild idea along with the dredge the lakes project, the passenger train to NO, the loop, a new bridge, and some others have gotten nowhere.

The only big ticket plan moving forward is the Tram down Nicholson.
