Same, although I was in Negril. Decent spot but a fricking 24/7 headache with the people.

Not sure if dangerous but I wandered into Chinatown NYC in May and felt slightly uneasy because I couldnt find a cab.

Agree.

Jamaica is a shithole and I won't be back. The overt racism is unconscionable.

Did you get a chance to go to the old British naval base in Cobh? Pretty cool.

I don't remember if we did or not. I know i went to the White Star Line/Titanic museum where the Titanic last set sail for America. I was still kind of young and stupid so i spent a lot of my time drunk bouncing from pub to pub, "real" Guinness and Jameson are serious arse kickers!
If I ever get the opportunity to hit some of the ports I hit in my youth again I will see a lot more of the culture and less of the bar room.

The Treaty Ports* were a weird artifact of Irish Independence. Cobh (née Queenstown) was one.

North Baton Rouge was most dangerous. Been to Baghdad also but wasn't nearly as bad.

My most dangerous place I've been is the middle of the Mississippi River in a kayak at 3 in the morning. I was also drunk and trying to make it back to the other side where my camp was. We put ourselves in a bad spot that night. Pretty stupid. Luckily we made it back across unharmed. Ranks up there with being caught above the tree line in a thunderstorm in the Alps. That was terrifying.

I guess as far as violent places, probably some no-name corner in Harlem buying some weed off some Dominicans. Once again we were drunk and it was 2 or three in the morning. Wasn't too bad, but I'm sure we'd have made easy targets for being mugged if someone wanted to.

I had to google image search to see if i had been there. I don't think we ever made it to the old base. I did run across a picture of my ship when we were berthed in Cobh.

I agree with these....but at least Oakland and Atlanta have some redeeming qualities...Memphis is a shithole.

Mozambique. Land mines and corrupt cops with machine guns everywhere.
