This weekend at a party I found out that a couple that I knew were "taking a break" after they both copped to having affairs. This brought up a discussion and it seemed like so many couples in their late 30s to mid 40s have had an indiscretion. Is it just a sign of the times? Or are lips just looser now. I don't think we're doing it more than the Mad Men era.

I don't think it's more or less prevalent, but it's easier to get caught, and there are more consequences for being caught (divorce, social media shaming)

It's just easier to get caught and women take less shite today. Any man w/ a family who takes that risk is retarded.

without religion there is no reason for people to feel the need to have a traditional relationship, with no cheating involved. nowadays people happily have open relationships, group sex, encourage their buddies to cheat, and even let their partner have sex with somebody while they watch.

it's all good though, because tolerance.

Seems like it. I know of a very, very fine lady in her early 40s that goes out with her boyfriend all the time. They go to very popular places too. She doesn't even try to hide it

Definitely more prevalent but I do not blame social media.

If anything I think cell phones have helped push the numbers higher by giving easier access to communicate outside the supervision of your SO.

It has become more socially acceptable to be out without your SO than in previous generations.

absence of religion does not remove jealousy and the natural desire for monogamy......does it fade for various reasons? Sure. But Polygamy is not the baseline.....God or not.

Ah yes...nothing's promoted healthy sexual understanding better than the world's various religions.
