without religion there is no reason for people to feel the need to have a traditional relationship, with no cheating involved. nowadays people happily have open relationships, group sex, encourage their buddies to cheat, and even let their partner have sex with somebody while they watch.
Jimmy Swaggart says hey.

I assume you are a complete Ron Paul libertarian, otherwise a hypocrite.

Monogamy is not normal. It's a religiously enforced and state sanctioned institution that does not work anymore. It had it's time and place but people have evolved past that now. If it was an institution that went with the grain of human nature, it would be more successful. That is the bottom line. It works for a small subset of the population but does not work for the majority of humans and never will.
People are downvoting this but it's pretty spot on.

We have become an instant gratification society. People live in their own selfish bubbles and thus this leads to more infidelity.

anecdotal evidence is just that.
I have the very opposite experience
Do you now?
I'd guarantee you that you almost certainly do not know 10 atheists, (even truer if you handle is accurate) and probably far less than that if you live anywhere in the south.
Let me rephrase that...you probably DO know that many but they'd never be open about it because of bullshite talking points like the ones you've run in this thread. To simply say that you do not believe in the supernatural comes with a host of all sorts of bullshite lumped onto you by the faithful that seem to think they know more about what you think than you do, and frankly for most people in real life it's simply easier to nod at guys like you and move on with our day than engage you.

You really think people are cheating more now than they have historically? It seems like infidelity has pretty much always been a part of human history. I'm not remotely justifying or excusing it; it just doesn't seem like a modern phenomenon.

Yes. Before the Supreme Court's holding in Griswold vs. Connecticut, birth control was criminalized in many states. Before the Supreme Court's holding in Roe vs. Wade, abortion was criminalized in almost every state. Before the mass availability of birth control and abortion, women had to weigh the risks of getting pregnant by their lover over their desire to be with another man. This likely kept a lot of women from having affairs. Now the fear of being impregnated by your paramour isn't a big deal when you can get birth control from your doctor or an abortion if you're not sure who the father is.
