Why do yall keep responding to SS? He's obviously very ignorant, or just a troll and would be better suited if you just ignored him. Maybe his dumb shite would disappear and he'd find a more productive use of his time.

This. He comes in, gives one response, then dips out. He doesn't even try to hide his trollness anymore
See my sig.

I'm not so sure about him simply being a troll.

It appears he is a thoroughly brainwashed kid that is totally ignorant to any part of a black/white or perceived black/white issue due to lack of impartiality.

He does more to stir up trouble on this board between the races than most any black person would .... except for Gravy maybe.

As a black middle class resident of Orleans Parish, the issue of the statues rarely comes up when I'm with friends.

Most of my friends were happy to see the statue by liberty place monument come down. But as a whole are indifferent about the others.

You would be delusional to think that the power structure of this city is going to change just because those statues were removed. So in my opinion what's the point??

The people who erected those statues wanted to pay homage to their "heroes" of their "noble" cause. I disagree with their cause and those statues don't depict heroes (Another thread

Point in case concerning SS.

Here is an entry from a black person that is reasonable and enlightening.

There could be some discussion but it should not end on a bad note.

FWIW, the State has always handled any suits arising from an accident in City Park through the State Office of Risk Mgt. If the State has insurance coverage/exposure, no way does the City have ownership, as trial lawyers sue any/everyone on the policy. And the City has no exposure in City Park

It goes even deeper than that.

Everyone's lips are tight, but when I asked someone to do some digging, he was told in the hall to keep his nose out of it and that those from much higher up had been pushing to prove ownership for a few weeks now.

THIS IS AWESOME!

I always thought that the Mcdounough family owned the land that is currently city park. Upon his death he gifted the land to the city of New Orleans

The City Park golf course redevelopment is comprised of three major stakeholders. The first is City Park, also known officially as City Park Improvement Association or CPIA. The second stakeholder is the State of Louisiana, which has assumed a critical funding role for the Park and its capital projects post Katrina. And the third partner is Bayou District Foundation, a locally based 501c3 nonprofit that has put together one of the largest philanthropic gifts in the park’s history to help make this project a reality.

Mitch committed political suicide?

Any day where a Landrieu goes down is a good day.

oh yeah

he's not winning office in this state ever again

(considering he can't run for mayor again [term-limited] and after this whole debacle started... would never win a statewide office)
