Task Force says City Park owns the land and the Beauregard Statue
Notes the Historical Society deems the Beauregard statue to be on private land, not public
Lt. Gov. Nungesser has sent a letter to the City Park Improvement Association basically telling them to protect the statue
Here's Nungesser's letter:

Really?
I was always told city park was the largest privately owned city park in the country? Not arguing just curious.

Monument Task Force Rep.: During original court cases they knew Beauregard was on private land but couldn't prove it
have now found the paperwork to show it

One would think Mitch and his crew of flunkies would do some research on this. God bless the people who are trying to save the monuments.

how Landrieu could not see this as nothing but a huge cluster for the city is beyond me. He has to be the biggest buffoon to take the office of mayor of new orleans. think about that for a moment.

Actually, this is what wikipedia says:

I always thought it was considered to be owned by the state, but maybe I'm wrong and just confused with them administering it. I knew their employees were always deemed state employees.
ETA, but if the State is simply tasked with "administering" the park, it may be an overstep of the city's authority to try to say what they must do with statues on its grounds.

Although it is an urban park whose land is owned by the City of New Orleans,[4][5] it is administered by the City Park Improvement Association, an arm of state government, not by the New Orleans Parks and Parkways Department.[
