Awesome video. The power of Mother Nature is fascinating.

Me too. I'd take August in Baton Rouge year round.

If you'd take Baton Rouge Augusts all year, is it really so hard to believe that some people would take the opposite?

And for those saying you can do all sorts of things to cool down in the summer when it's 100+, (a) you're full of shite, 100 degrees in Louisiana is the equivalent of being on the surface of Satan's ball bag - you can't cool off from that, and (b) you can do a lot to warm up in below freezing, too. Minnesotans look forward to winter. It's snowmobile season. At the same time, there's no warming up from below zero. You're just fricking cold in the same way you're just fricking hot when it's over 100.

They know how to dress for the cold up north. You can't walk around naked down here and even if you could you wouldn't cool off.

Plus there's no way in hell I'm getting on a golf course in anything below 40

40 degrees is downright balmy especially if it's not windy. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've golfed in weather a lot colder than that.
I'm showing -20 here in Minnesota right now. I did the hot water thing earlier and while it didn't vaporize, it did freeze before hitting the ground.

We get winds 3-4 times a winter called the Taku Winds. They are unique in that unlike chinook winds, these don't warm up as they descend the mountains. They come off the Juneau Ice Field with hurricane force winds and can blow for days, mainly in the downtown area.

We also have a lot of avalanche issues. There are several major chutes downtown.

Not full of shite if you live in AZ. 100 degrees is nothing to us here(we deal with it going to 120 sometimes actually). We deal with that for 3-4 months out of the year just fine. But...it's 100 with like 10% humidity. Huge difference. It actually does feel cooler when you sit in the shade.

Damn -18 and it's still raining. But, that is freaking cold. I'm already not looking forward to low getting to down to about 20 here on the Southshore.

Must be some freaky shite to rain at -18.

In N.W. La, 100 degrees with high humidity is dangerous, in addition to being miserable. I lived with it for 30 years and never found it something easy to deal with. I have much less of an issue adjusting to cold.

There are cold weather people and hot weather people I've found out. Some thrive in cool weather, others in warm.

Beautiful place in summer. Winter too, sometimes..

Got a good ski area.

Not many places in the US where you can kayak around glacial ice and climb in ice caves.

Someone posted a pic of their phone with the weather app up, and it said it was raining despite it being -18. Obviously a screwup.

I saw a pic of a waterspout over Lake Michigan while it was below zero. Bitter cold air over the warm lakes caused enough convection to support it. Insane! On the iPad or I would post a link

It was 5 here the other night. First time in weather that cold but if that is as bad as it gets all year it isn't too rough.

What I want to know is when is the last time NOLA saw what we will see tomorrow night. WWL said teens are even possible south of the lake.

As a Minnesotan, it is comical to watch people in the south and the west deal with some cold. I am called crazy routinely

You would get a huge laugh from me then. I love snow, but not s fan of cold. Below 10 is too cold for me.
