I live in a small neighborhood with woods all around us, some of it is actually a hunting lease. We hear gunshots all the time from inside our house, and these gunshots are sometimes over a half mile away.
I've shot my 9mm in my backyard before. I'm positive all 60 houses in my neighborhood heard it. I even tried walking into the woods a little bit and i still think it's too loud to be shooting near the neighborhood. I quit shooting it and stick to the .22
The point is even though it was at midnight, there's no way everyone in the vicinity of them were all asleep and were all extremely heavy sleepers. If a pistol is shot multiple times, someone is going to hear it.

Yea, I can get behind this. I imagine at least one person who lived near by would have heard the shots. Not to mention midnight is not incredibly late, so chances are someone near by was awake anyway.

I like how all of the examples of being inside hearing gunshots are from gunshots happening outside.

I'll do a desk pop inside my house tonight and let y'all know if any of my neighbors hear it.
For science.

how do you know the gunshots came from inside?

Are you implying these shots happened from outside? Even with no signs of forced entry?
Serious question, would bullet holes count as a sign of forced entry?

My thought was the glass breaking could have been the bullets breaking the glass while entering the house. That's the only thing that makes sense if the wife heard gunshots AND breaking glass but there were no signs of forced entry, which I assume means a person entering the house.

I haven't the slightest idea.
considering they were shot in chairs, you'd assume they came from inside. But if they were inside in chairs and shot like that, how the hell did windows break?
Maybe shots came from outside through the windows?
I don't know?
no sign of forced entry means something was unlocked, or they never entered. Don't know yet.

Who said it was windows that were broken? All I've seen was she heard glass breaking. That could have been a mirror, glass cabinets, drinkjng glasses, pictures, etc.

I"m not giving forensic insight. I haven't the slightest idea.
All i'm saying, is if there were gunshots, whether in the house or not, someone had to hear it.
I just find it hard to believe that someone pops off several shots with a pistol and the next door neighbors don't here it, regardless of where they were shot or who's sleeping.

i agree.
If she heard glass breaking, i'd imagine some reporter would at least have the common sense to look at the windows and report if they were broken or not. but we didn't get that info for some reason.

Guns aren't quiet. If I go in your house and fire five rounds you will hear it.
As far as this, either the mom did it, or an execution hit squad did it, but in scenario two, mom would be dead too I think.

I see speculation and inquiry, not people claiming to be experts in anything. Your statement does imply that you might have superior forensic knowledge.

Your post, ironically, was the first in at least several pages that wasn't related to the story in the OP.

What if mom was sleeping? Gun shots woke her(in deep sleep) and when she woke up, heard glass breaking?
What if a silencer was used? This ruins all you gun experts and who hears better than who.

You do realize this isn't the movies?
People don't just walk around with silencers on their pistols.
You need to really know what you're doing to make one, and you can't buy one without going through extensive background checks.
