Made the transition around Christmas time...Love my DE razors...Have an Edwin Jagger De89lbl and a Merkur Slant 37C...Have a sampler pack of blades and 100 feathers...Been using the feathers and they work great so I haven't needed to try the others.

There was a small learning curve but my shaves now are great. I hated to shave...Now I actually enjoy it..It's relaxing, and the razor doesn't rip my face apart like my old mach3.

I really dont give a shite about the particulars though. Give me a new Gilette power glide and i'm set

I just ordered my shaving supplies online. Have never shaved with a DE. I bought a feather safety razor, pack of 25 derby blades to try, proraso pre shave and proraso shave soap, and a decent badger brush. I'm excited to see the results.

My first week of DE shaving and I love it! I bought Parker R22 butterfly opening style safety razor, with shark blades, escali badger brush, proraso pre shave, and Shave soap (sensitive) , escalii stand, and Tiger balm after shave. I also use the pre shave as an after shave. still finding my way a bit, but it really is way better than my Gilette power fusion. It does take a lot longer, but not a big deal, as I shave at night after showering most of the time. I'm still having some razor burn on neck and jaw line, but hoping this will improve after experimenting with some other blades. Any recommendations on blades for sensative skin? Thanks

What do you think? All reviews I've read are positive. But your second is a merkur SLANT.? One is a starter and keeper. The other is for a lumberjack? Least that is my understanding.

I jumped into DE shaving a cpl months ago and I recently bought a bottle of cheap Clubman Pinaud after shave. That smell brings me back to getting my neck trimmed at the barber shop when I was a kid! It's def not a current cologne smell but I'm loving it for now.

Gillette Fusion Proglide
Barbasol

I get a perfect comfortable clean shave everytime and I still have 30 extra minutes to use doing something better like eat breakfast and watch the news or talk to my kid before I have to go to work.

I challenge anyone to a shave off with all their retro hip fad shite

It takes a few minutes to shave with a DE and doesn't cost $30 for new cartridges

I haven't had any irritation with the DE yet. I was pretty miserable at the chin with my gillete mach 3

4 cartridges ($16) will last me two months and I'm 36, I have pretty coarse facial hair.

Can of Barbasol is $1.67

I was speaking to a cartridge pack. 8 for $30

$15 variety pack should last me 2 years. I wouldn't have made the switch if I wasn't getting irritation and bumps

Still looking for some type of pre-shave balm/cream that doesn't leave my neck with red bumps

Try Art of Shaving or Anthony Logistics pre-shave oil. Yiu can get them at Grooming Lounge website. On a different note, try the Balla powder to keep the boys dry and tight.

I timed this and posted in one of these threads the other day. From out of the shower to drying my face is right around 8 minutes- very similar to the time it would take with a traditional cartridge razor. I have to stop and clean it less often, but I have to make more passes and re-lather, so it about evens out. It's really not much slower at all. I'd just highly recommend against it if you used up all the hot water in your shower, which is something that does NOT affect the cartridges nearly as much.
