I could link a bunch of articles and studies showing women are harassed differently online but there's no point. Men hate it when women speak out.

Well, first of all, that is false. There are plenty of people who want to, and are already, censoring social media. Secondly, I don't disagree with your next assertion. I have no idea why you think that is a winning point with me.

That video was way too dramatic.... They could have just read the stuff and agreed that who ever wrote the tweets were fricked up in the head.

Seriously who gives a frick that some anonymous person is on Twitter trying to come up with the most vile things to say possible, to get a reaction. And then you give them the reaction they are looking for...??. Why let something like that bother you? frick that... People can say whatever in the frick they want about me online and it wouldn't invoke a single change in my mood, but these guys act like someone really just raped these girls or really killed their dogs.....

Good god

Hopefully many of you will grow past your early 20's and not find this type of thing worthy. If you're already many years above that number, you may need to look into Lexapro.

Yes, we can all agree there are a lot of people that need to build thicker skins. God knows I work with a bunch of them. However, it should go in the other direction as well. The dicks should be a little less dicky.

Would you want people posting those comments on your fb...where all of your friends and family and colleagues can read?

Would it upset you if you read comments like those if they were posted on the social media of someone you love?

Yes, but which ask is more realistic?

The reality is they won't be. And giving them this exposure just solidifies their stances. Makes them harder to deal with.

That's my point. At some point we all need to accept reality and move on.

Nah, I just hate when they resort to unfounded histrionics.

Maybe, but I don't see one person in this thread, or in the attached article advocating that. The point of the article/video was: don't be a dick.

No, not really. That's a sad commentary though.

I'm obviously using hyperbole.

But for people to act surprised that internet tough guys are assholes on the internet is pretty naive.

I think all those tweets are out of line. This is a "when in Rome" situation IMO.

When I'm in the hood I expect to see rusted out cars with rims and babies wearing jellies.

When I'm in Watson I expect to see rebel flags and wife beaters (the shirt and the person)

When I'm on the internet I expect to see people be assholes.

There's only one way I know to truly and permanently make a dick bigger. That is to tell him to not be a dick.

Just to clarify I am not DEFENDING the actual comments. I am ATTACKING the overwrought reaction to those comments.

The world is full of dicks. Dicks have always been EVERYWHERE throughout human history flopping and flailing around looking for some way to be noticed and gain relevance.

Then along came this global open access medium called the internet that allowed the dicks to be dicks. So when someone logs on to the internet and reads things dicks say and lets it penetrate their feelings, that makes them vaginas. Dicks will be dicks. All I am asking is for the rest of us not to be pussies.

I would have no problem reading the tweets.

I would add make some up just to get the party raging.

"Hey Spain, why don't you Spanish Inquisition my cock down your throat?"

"You are just a filthy dishrag whore who bangs producers for a living!"

"You are a no talent slut who gets worse every day. And it's already next month!"

Doesn't appear that you can read anything easily...

On another note, I kept watching waiting for someone to read something really deplorable and then say, "Nah, I just made that one up, the real tweet says 'You're fat.'"

That's a cop out, imo. If more people stood up and said it's not acceptable, it would diminish. No, it wouldn't disappear but it would make an effect. I don't think it is unrealistic at all.

There is a ridiculous amount of woman hate on this board. I wouldn't insinuate that it is all real, but it is rampant nonetheless. Comments to the contrary are often met with "white knight blah blah blah". More specifically, there is a significant amount of hate directed towards wives/marriages. Don't get me wrong, I understand the demographics of this site are mostly single, college-aged men, but it gets a bit tiresome at times.

Reading comments like those read in the video over and over....yeah that would certainly get to me at some point.

They don't have to read them

Many celebs just don't read what is tweeted at them.
