There are multiple nice hotels downtown, as someone said. Don't listen to the Collierville idiots.

Beale Street sucks and is dangerous.

Peabody is nice but make certain that your room does not face Union Avenue if you plan on sleeping before four o'clock in the morning.

Seriously, I have to question if these assclowns have ever even been to Memphis. I guess Collierville is fine if you're 40 and have 3 kids, but other than that, frick no. Its a glorified strip mall with no culture whatsoever. Most laughable Memphis suggestion I've ever heard.

agreed. My friend had to do a shift for work in East Memphis for a month or two and had to stay out in Collierville. WHen he wanted to watch a game somewhere and grab a drink, he said he always had to choose between Olive Garden or Applebee's.

Beale Street is not dangerous. It is lame compared to Bourbon though.

Agreed. Beale is fun, but pails in comparison to Bourbon. Granted, I've never seen a person stabbed 3 feet away from me on Beale as I have on Bourbon, but its payoff.

The 2 hotels that I'll hopefully end up at from raising enough money are the Doubletree downtown or the Sheraton ... think I'll book the first 3 nights there in hopes that I raise the money and get the next 2 night and won't have to move.

Memphis people, is the Sheraton in an okay/accessible area to the "attractions"? Thanks.

Doubletree will be your best bet. It's right on Union Ave across from AutoZone Park and The Peabody. There's a pretty nice Hampton Inn one street over from Beale St. and The W is right across from FedEx Forum.

I lived in Memphis for 6 years. The people saying Collierville and Germantown in this thread suck.

You should stay at one of the following: Peabody, Westin, River Inn (on Mud Island). Those are all very nice places. DoubleTree downtown is another option. Holiday Inn downtown is as well if you are looking to save a few bucks.

Last time I was home I went to a place called the trophy room for some beers. Wasn't a bad place to hang out, right there on poplar.

As long as you don't venture to far over to the east side you will be fine. Memphis has lost a lot of their great attractions since I lived in the area.

However I do know you can still find some great BBQ around Beale St. Also, it would be a wasted trip if you don't have at least one meal at the Germantown Commissary.

It might be a little out of the way but it is worth it.

This....the music scene in Memphis died decades ago & Beale St has been scrubbed clean to within an inch of its life....to bad too.

Talbot Heirs Guesthouse.

It's on Second street above the Flying Fish, right across from the Peabody. The rooms are more like an ecconomy apartment. Has the full kitchen and all.

My daughter and I stayed there last Thursday night and were very pleased.

One block from Beale and very cool owners.
