I'm assuming Beale street is THE area to stay ... planning on going to the St. Jude marathon weekend ... husband is a guitar player and will probably be coming and will want to take full advantage of the music scene.

Beale I'm assuming is an okay/safe area to stay??

Thanks ..

Nashville is close enough to Memphis to stay safely

But I gotta be there to get to the marathon start early in the am ... not driving in from Nashville.

Check out this thread from a few weeks ago.

It had some useful info in it.

You people are insane. You don't have to stay in Collierville or Germantown to be safe. westin on Beale is great. Peabody obviously and the courtyard marriott off main st. Husband may want to check out Gibson guitar factory

Unless he likes Papa Roach or bad country, he'll be sorely disappointed.

When is the marathon? Every hotel downtown will be booked.

First weekend in December ... that's precisely why I'm doing it now.

If I raise the amount I'm hoping I'll get 2 nights free at either the Doubletree or the Sheraton; just depends on what is available when I reach my goal.

And the purpose of the getaway is the Half Marathon ... Sun Studios and the Gibson Guitar factory we've been told are worth seeing.

Thanks to all for the suggestion of Nashville but that's not an option this time.

Sorry, but anyone who says Collierville or Germantown has lost their minds. If you're wanting to hang out on Beale, there should be plenty of hotel rooms downtown. It's not that dangerous at all.

Yeah, merely an hour away from where he wants to party.

Don't take this guy's advice, whatever you do.
