Certainly elite. They've had financial troubles the last couple of years and recently laid off over 1000 employees, but don't I think it really affected the medical side much. MSK in new york is also top notch.

2 family members have been dealing with MD the past few years.
My dad was given 3 months to live by local oncologists and they did what they could but we eventually went to MD and he ended up lasting just over 20 months, which was pretty unusual for his type of cancer with a stage 3b prognosis. He would have never had that amount of time without MD Anderson. He eventually succumbed to it in February of this year but we are all very grateful for the extra time MD gave us with him.
My uncle Paul has a very rare cancer and he received stem cell treatment at MD that he would have never received in Laffeyette. They told him they couldn't cure him but could keep him alive in remission and so far they have.
You can read about my Uncle Paul here

I go every other week from BR and have been there since 2013. First class facility and doctors. You're doing good by heading that way. Look into the leukemia and lymphoma society's AML Master trial also. Or at least ask your doc about it.

To add: I love MD, I wouldn't go anywhere else, but if you're closer to UAB, they are top notch as well.

Finally terminated DelPinho(sp?) and his crazy wife. He was a mess from the day he arrived.

Friends parent had the same scenario. She succumbed to her cancer but the family had the peace of mind knowing everything possible was tried and every care giver did the best they could.

The only negative thing I will say about it is that it is a tough emotional battle to realize just how many people have cancer, as they are there in the flesh. 100's & 100's of them in every waiting room on every floor. Stay far away from the children's floors. But far & away the best medical facility in the country if not the world & all the people there are incredibly talented & upbeat.

This will ve redundant, but,
I know an oncologist, I asked him if he were to (god forbid) have cancer, where would he go.
Answer is your thread title

Amazing facility for cancer treatment.
Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL is world class, also.

If you have kids there is also a great arcade which everything is free to help keep them occupied.

MD Anderson has been rated the #1 cancer center in America like 20/22 years by US News.
In general they are where you want to go, especially if the cancer is rare or advanced.
However, depending on the specific cancer there might be another hospital (Mayo, Sloan Kettering, John Hopkins, etc) that specializes in advanced treatments for that particular cancer.
Best bet is to start at MD, if the best course of treatment for her cancer is only available somewhere else they will let you know.
