Does he make the most money?

Mostly combined. Both our paychecks are direct deposited into a joint checking.
But we each still have our separate checking accounts that we transfer our monthly "allowances" into.
She gets x amount to buy clothes and shite. I get x amount to buy good bourbon and whatnot. So there's no arguing over her spending $100 on a pair of shoes or me spending $100 for a bottle of bourbon. We get what we get each month.

My wife doesn't work and I've come to the conclusion that I can't make more than my wife can spend. If I make more she spends more. It just works out that way.
I max out my 401k and all the rest but I handle all the bills and everything financial. She has access to the joint account but is not interested in discussing it at all. If we had a situation where she would spend too much she didn't want to hear it... AT ALL.
Eating lunch out everyday after a workout, coffee at whatever place was close and so on will turn into a big bill at the end of the month.
Here is how we do it. We each have a separate account that is different from our main account. Each time I get paid she gets a set amount of money in her account. Her only task with that money is to buy groceries. Anything left over she could burn for all I care. That's all she gets until she gets "paid" again though. Same goes for me but I get less in my account because I don't purchase groceries.
If we go out to eat we use out joint account.
We haven't been doing it very long. At first she would "forget" to use her account. I kept seeing charges hit our joint account and was asking why. It would be an "accident" or she forgot or something. We're still getting past that. If it keeps up I will remove her access from the main account. If I responsible for our financial security, which I am, I may have to do it.

Willy, what is your set allowance on a weekly basis?
Posted on 3/29/17 at 1:04 pm to Duggars23
No, but I do pay all the bills.

Do you have to stop your husband from blowing money on "useless" things?
Posted on 3/29/17 at 1:08 pm to Duggars23
Nope. He can spend his money on whatever shite he wants.

Most wives try to control their husbands spending

shared checking acct for the house expenses.
I have my own money. She has her own money. We don't mix funds.

Since the vast majority of our purchases/expenses usually fall under a different budget, we keep it relatively small. $100/week each.
I have taken a pretty granular approach to our budgets so honestly since we've gotten married most of that money has just sat there.

This....we don't have a shared account though. I pay mortgage and utilities since I had this house when she moved in almost 20 years ago. she pays groceries, entertainment/ dining and travel. Then if we buy something for the house we both use, we split the cost.

What about toilet paper?

We have always combined ours. Marriage is a joint venture so that is how we treat it. Been married 34 years. Works for us.
Friend asked me what do I do when the wife spends all the money. Answer: "I go make her some more.".
