Preach. It's going to get exponentially worse in the coming years as well. Hope you are close to 20.

Are females making into these units yet? I haven't seen any news that females have been getting through SOI or IOC.

I could ask some friends... I'm out processing now. Not my bag. I know it does have a green light though... And the all-knowing Ray Mabus wants a 25% female Marine Corps.

I don't know how that works... I'd assume you'd need a woman PLT CO for a woman PLT? But that's not equal opportunity...

But the standard drop is coming. If you think TBS and IOC is immune you are lying to yourself.

Eta: my basis for this is the complete "go fck yourself" of the Marine Corps study on women in combat (which I actually think was impartial and one of the more professional things we've done in a long time.)

As for this dead recruit. Sorry for his families loss but the kid couldn't hack it in the Marines and took a easy way out.

I agree. It's tough shite from my perspective. If recruit training made you off yourself, I have zero sympathy. Sorry I'm not sorry if that makes me an a-hole.

Unrelated, but only sort of, we had a dude that tried to off himself. He got into the locker, drank a shite ton of Aqua Velva, then smashed one of the empties and tried to cut his own throat with the glass. Our kill hat woke up and tossed his arse out onto the quarterdeck. Needless to say, he didn't get any recommendation to "return to training."

No worries. I was just curious. I got out because my back is destroyed, but I'm not as sorry as I used to be that I'm out after seeing some of this shite.

Hell yeah, that's sweet. Nothing wrong with that. I was the superest POG that ever POGed before I became a bad arse.

I got paid a lot more for my POG half.

I can see how it would make people feel depressed and quit. I cannot see how someone could think it was so bad they actually needed to kill themselves.

When I initially read this my first thought was, "Those poor drill instructors. That's like the hardest job imagineable. Go too far to the right and you are responsible for a suicide. Go too far to the left and you are gonna suck at training kids and you'll get kicked out of the MC for sucking at your job."

Forgive my ignorance. Electronic Warfare Officer? Never met a 26 officer I didn't like.

Yeah but I'm not an officer. I spent 15 years in the Marine Reserves as a grunt then came over to the guard. My infantry BN has an electronic warfare nco slot that everyone just calls EWO. They asked me take it and I accepted.

I've only met a couple, but I did have a lot more exposure to them.

I might be biased, but I feel like I had the best job in the Marine Corps.

I actually wanted that initially, but my recruiter mentioned Radio Reconnaissance to me and I was sold.
