quote:Lafayette has Mardi Gras? I know about Mamou and some of the cajun Mardi Gras celebrations but didn't think Lafayette did much more than a few parades.
I think I'm gonna take that yearly ski trip like so many people in Lafayette do to get away from it.

True. It really isn't appreciated fully until you actually ride once. That turn onto Orleans ave. and entering the dome will change a mans life

Spanish town is a lot of fun and you don't have to worry about being shot/stabbed/robbed

Have a good ride! Here's to good weather
If you pass 27 I'll be under the mounted LSU flag, I'll throw you a beer.

Heaven forbid people have fun

This thread is incredibly elitist. It's just another excuse for you to put down other people to make you feel better about yourself.
When I say elitist I'm referring to your pretentious judgmental views and all that stuff.

I never get the yearly Mardi gra bashers. I get if you don't like it, it's not for everyone, but why go out of your way to bash it? It's such a pretentious act.

Our mardi gras may not be even close to the same, but I assure you, North LA likes to get drunk

I'm not a big fan of Mardi Gras, but I'm not knocking everyone who does. Yes you came here to express your opinion on a subject, and I'm here to express my disagreement with your opinion. I'm not sure why there is confusion.

As a teenager I love it but by the time I'm 25 and out of college I think I'm gonna take that yearly ski trip like so many people in Lafayette do to get away from it.
When you're 25, its going to be a time that your friends come back from around the country.
It's a week long football tailgate.
Its better at 25 than 18

Riding in Endymion is the shite
one of my technicians at the pharmacy i used to work at wanted me to ride with them.... he is all about Endymion, riding in it, the ball, etc... and like i said, Mardi Gras ain't my bag, so i had to politely decline each and every time he brought it up....
to hear him describe it, i'm sure it would be fun the first time, but life changing, i dunno... but hey, whatever....

well when you are 45, mardi gras may be that only time of the year to act young again. lighten up man.
