I do think he did it. I think without the coerced confession of his nephew and the shady business of the DA he wouldn't have been convicted. Again, there is more than enough "reasonable doubt" when you look at the case in its entirety to overturn the sentence.

That's how the legal system works. We are looking at this with 20/20 hindsight and not looking at it with the limited vision of the present and the shadow of double jeopardy. By your logic we should still be running the Wild West system of justice and hang anyone who is "right" or "wrong". Both cases displayed a body of evidence that was tainted and did not prove beyond all question that the person on trial was guilty.

Well said. In hindsight, seeing how corrupt the system was that colluded in bringing Avery to "justice" is an eye-opener to many people. Some people (like myself) are less shocked. There's been similar collusion between public appointed attorneys and the state prosecution going way back. Unfortunately, this is nothing new.

The problem I have is the Wisconsin Supreme Court. The only reason they did not hear Avery's or Dassey's appeals is because it would open a floodgate for every other case that the crooked DA handled. It makes their entire State Criminal Justice system look suspect.

It comes down to if you believe correcting our legal system is worth the life of a woman. I think at minimum the Dassey boy is innocent. What of his life? What about the lives of others who are sent to prison without sufficient evidence?

Haven't watched the show, but people are surprised at how dysfunctional our legal system is? It's been like this for a very long time. Sometimes it puts POS away with sketchy evidence, other times it is used to put innocent people away on the same sketchy evidence. Even DNA evidence isn't conclusive.

Ironically enough, the DNA evidence introduced in the Avery case was tainted. Granted, the prosecution did sufficiently defend that the analyst that did the work simply tainted the control sample of the test and not the actual sample gathered from the crime scene. But the mishap in that situation did introduce reasonable doubt with that piece of evidence as well.

They convicted the boy on his testimony and used the murder taking place in the bedroom with the woman roped by the wrists and chained at the ankles. They also used his testimony that he cut her throat.

No evidence provided of rope fibers, DNA,Blood of any kind anywhere in the room. They didn't even claim they scrubbed the murder site.

That is enough doubt for me. Is the guy probably guilty? maybe. However, with all the shoddy police work and planting of evidence to make the conviction if I was on the jury I wouldn't have voted guilty.

I've sat in on 40+ jury trials and it's honestly amazing how one sided jurors are. I've NEVER seen a jury come back with a non-guilty verdict and I've probably been leaning not non-guilty per se, but I'm not 100 percent convinced in 80 percent of them.

Most people just aren't open minded and make up their minds before they even step foot in the court room. It sucks, but it's true.

Brendan did. He even specified that they used some of her clothes as rags to clean the blood in the garage with bleach.
